Cowabunga Dude Way back in the long, long ago of last summer Chubby Lantern suggested we host a parade. Since the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade is a longstanding tradition here in the United States, we decided to try this idea again and host the first annual Springfield Holiday Parade. Spiffshine has graciously offered to stitch all the images we receive prior to US Thanksgiving (November 28th) to feature in the banner spaces on the forum. What your scene needs to include(these are minimum requirements, you can always add more - Two Thanksgiving parade balloons (if you do not have any of the balloons from last year you can use six yellow road blockers in their place. Duff Barney balloons can also be used in place of Thanksgiving balloons.)
- Two vehicles
- A float with three “performers” entertaining the crowd
- A minimum of three Springfield residents enjoying the parade
- At least one officer of the law
Setting up your scene:- In order to create consistency we ask that submissions are posted FULL PAN so that all scenes will line up. (So basically zoom out as far as possible).
- To create a continuous parade the “road” for all submissions needs to be the same. So the same angle and two pavement segments thick bordered by road (so you can place items or people on the “road” if you so choose). Here is a template. Your own parade route can be shorter or longer than what is pictured.
[/div] [li]Here is another view. A special thanks to G0THAMGIRL for creating these images as we tried to map this out.[/li] [/ul] Everyone who meets the basic criteria listed above will receive this cool badge.

Just a thought but what about people who submit after the fog disappears, it might look weird when everything is stitched together.

I'm not sure I quite understand the roadblock part. I only have Scratchy from last year.

I'm not sure I quite understand the roadblock part. I only have Scratchy from last year. Then include your one balloon and 3 of these blockers to complete the task. We were looking for an alternative for those who may not have balloons. 3 blocker = 1 balloon.

Do we need the parking meters? Should we include buildings, presumably not the ones you depicted, to make it look like a downtown?

G0THAMGIRL is just a super star and is baking something awesome in her brain. Include whatever creative things you want, the point of the monthly events is to see all the different ways people interpret the same set of guidelines.

I'm a little confused on how you would make a float with performers on it.

I'm a little confused on how you would make a float with performers on it. I would use fences and flowers and put a car in front to pull it. Try to use some 3D. That is the way I am approaching it. I know it is hard to see on the sample they gave, but that is what it looks like they did. Be creative

I'm a little confused on how you would make a float with performers on it. The simple answer is make the stage look like a float an put the B Sharpes on it

I am sure it will be great, but I did not see where the contest was. We are making a long parade of members. But I do look forward to seeing your final design I won't to mine until this weekend. I have an elaborate plan all set up. I just need to clear some room in my SF to make it work

Fraggle - do we post the images on here or submit them to OP? Post them here. This is an everyone enjoy as they go along. You have all month, so it's stress free. To answer an earlier question, JoeBeezy I think we would be ok if your people are not actually on the float. But we should be able to tell a difference between who is part of the parade and who is watching as an observer. Does that make sense?

Yeah it makes sense use fences or cones to block it off like a real parade

Let's get the ball rolling…. How's this, I think I covered everything This years first annual Springfield Thanksgiving Parade is highlighted by Mr. Burns Nuclear Power Plant Float. Featuring the Power Plant's mascot, Blinky, and a few handpicked performers to entertain the crowd on the float, Fat Tony playing his violin, Willie on the bagpipes, and Selma hula dancing. The float is being pulled by a black limo, and being trailed by the Duff Party Bus Float.
