I probably would have quit this game long ago if itunesbabe hadn't posted her hedge hill photo...I would have never known that I could give my town a little "depth"...I've always credited her when posting any of my 3d hill work. I'm glad she doesn't post often on the boards; I probably would have stalked her...similar to the MDfriend/PeruHomer situation (lol..saw a post on the other forum a day or two ago about that!).
I've never noticed anyone lift any of my ideas; there really isn't anything worth lifting. Plus, I don't really look around in anyone's town that much, I try to get in and out ASAP, but do stumble across some cool things that I'm sure I've used. It would be pretty odd to see a carbon copy of something I had created, though.

I don't really mind you know. I have a neighbour that copied my prison down to the tee but I was pretty flattered. I've changed mine up since then though as I bought more land but I wasn't fussed at all, rather pleased actually. But that's just me. I'm too care free imo.

Let me reiterate... I don't mind if people use or incorporate parts of my town in their own, but I believe they should either ask me or at least give a shout out for using one of my ideas. This has happened twice where a neighbor asks me if they could use the idea and I had no problem with it. But to see it in my town first, then use it in your town without so much as a shout out to where you got the idea, well needless to say that really grinds my gears.

My Springfield downs is one of my favorite areas of my Springfield. I saw one of my friends (not a reg poster) copied the idea. I deleted them. I also recently found someone (a reg poster I don't feel like calling out right now) whom the day after I rearranged my town to make better use of the escalator, copied the same idea... I'm kinda pissed about it to tell the truth since before I did it I checked all of my friends towns to see if anyone had the same idea, and none of them did. This person gave me no credit on either board, which I believe im at least entitled to that. I haven't deleted him yet just based on seeing what he's going to do next... Hopefully he sees this and decides to give proper credit... I thought your connection between the two sides of bleachers and the fences are brilliant. Hadn't seen that done anywhere else. While I might eventually add bleachers (that seems like an almost standard element in many towns now, I would not copy that aspect of it. (though I am jealous of it). I just look at yours sometimes it is hard to resist this. In a way it was nice that until Xmas I had only about 15 friends, and not all had designs. Kind of forced me come up with my own stuff, which is a big part of the game for me. |

First off, I think it's TOTALLY weird that anyone would spend the time on a copy. Why not just utilize some design elements & make their own... 2ndly, good ideas are good ideas. I'm sure I wasn't the 1st to think of using staggered benches as stairs on hedge hills, but since I posted some photos of it a couple months ago, I'm seeing it all over the place... My take is, spread good ideas & be creative. Anyone who outright copies, you can just delete them.

I actually don't mind people copying parts from my town, if they do, it means you know that part of your town must be good.
I'm not sure if I was the first person ever to write things with the hedges, but I got the idea to do it once and have since seen quite a few of my friends do the same and also on these forums (there is one on here with pink floyd wrote with the escalator, can't remember which user it was).

I don´t mind people copying my town or parts of it. After all it is just a game. If people are making the effort to copy me I would be flattered. I have one neighbour who copied a part of my town. I on the other hand also take ideas from others, f.e. the checkerboard. I didn´t come up with it. I saw it on the forum and liked it so much that I made something similar in my town. Or I incorporated my first maze when I saw shermansens beautiful one. No copies but still inspirations. Thinking about it, every copier says that, right?  |

Kymie, talking about the copycats. When I first time visited your town, your library and post office decorations are almost exactly the same as mine. I never seen your layout before, so hope you dont think I copied yours. And yes, your park is really inspirational.

Hey Lisa  thank you for the add by the way I was shocked when I seen your library and post office, cause I knew you didn't copy me cause we had just become friends I got the idea off a screenshot I seen, I can't remember who's, I just kinda made it my own, and didnt do a copy. Maybe they got the idea from you? Who knows  i must admit, yours is tons better, with all the pretty premium decos saying that, your town overall is beautiful. Thank you for the compliment of my park, I'm really starting to enjoy people using the idea, and am loving seeing their own takes & improvements it |

I have mixed feeling about this if I see and like something that I haven't done before I might try to copy but not exact that's just wrong there's a lot of stuff you can do so to blatantly steal someone's idea is just wrong now that people are using the 3D effects there's gonna be a lot more of it make your own people if you like an idea modify it a little not brick for brick I have a nice strip of land I think I'm gonna turn into the pyramids of Giza put 2 small ones on the sides and a huge one in the middle so if I see it in your town your a piece of shit rat fuck who should be stabbed repeatedly hahahahaha or is that a little much lol good day my fellow tappers good day While you can call someone a shit rat fuck (HA!), on the other forum someone posted Aztec pyramids - they looked fantastic. Like you plan, they had the larger one and two smaller ones. The Giza pyramids are not the same as the Aztec pyramids, obviously, but you can see how someone might even accuse YOU of stealing their ancient pyramid idea. My point is that there are only so many things we can do with these decorations. We try to vary as much as we can, but we all see our neighbors and are at least subconsciously influenced in our designs. And rare is there an idea that is completely and totally unique. Hence, i don't worry about come copying (and I'm guilty of being influenced). But verbatim or near verbatim is a bit much. Try to mix things up a little. |

Kymie, you know what people say - great minds think alike.. ;-) My husband particularly likes how you put the brown houses and Nelson's in a separate area. My town still needs a lot of "tweaking" until I'm fully happy with it, but I guess it's the fun of it. In the meantime, I'll keep visiting yours to get more ideas :-)
