I'm so excited for you Granny! Does that mean you will get to stretch your legs outside that rig of yours for awhile?

I'm so excited for you Granny! Does that mean you will get to stretch your legs outside that rig of yours for awhile? YES! She'll have a lot to do and people to visit before she reports to her next duty station. I'm sure I won't see her as much as I'd like. BUT her next duty station is in the continental US, so I can see her whenever I get through that state!

Also, a giant THANKYOU to all past, present & future military personnel for your service, dedication & loyalty. We have ANZAC Day & Rememberance Day in Australia to honour our military.

This Memorial Day, I say a prayer for the Hellfish that paid the ultimate price for our freedom. And it is perfectly fine for Spiffshine to say a non-denominational prayer.

I'm not certain if I will qualify, but I wanted to share mine and my family's story for Veteran's Day.
I myself did 4 years in NJROTC, under the command of the most hard-assed and compassionate Marine Sgt Major ever. This guy was mag nicest, and truly cared about our development and talents. He would go to games, track meets, choir concerts, theatre productions, anything to support his student recruits. It was a Navy cadet program, but secretly, I think he hoped to get a few of us to the Marine side!
The first Gulf War broke out in my senior year of high school, and my eldest brother, a fighter mechanic in the Air Force, was called to Kuwait. I volunteered at the local Air Force recruiting office until I went away to university. That brother stayed in the force until last year, and now does consulting for SAC in Florida. At one point in time, he had the most awesome job title: Superintendent, Air and Space Directorate. How cool is that!
His son grew up to enlist and become a Chef in the Navy, and then he married a Marine. They have two girls who say they both want to be soldiers! *laughs*
My uncle was in the Army, as was my youngest brother. He did 4 years, and then joined the National Guard instead, as our father had become terminally ill and we needed to share the care duties.
We are a happy military family, and I really would love a chance to display this badge in their honour. I enjoyed my years as a recruit, and in the volunteer offices, but they really spent the time in the trenches, sometimes literally. I want to promote them and spread their word!

My father was in the RAF,my mother in what was called the home guard ( walking the streets in England to make sure the town was totally blacked out). My grandfather was in the British army and continued, until his death, as a reservist. My uncles were in the British army. My aunt was a British army nurse and continued on, as an RN in England and the US. I have many friends, here inTexas, that have served or their so 's have served, and still do, in the US military. I am proud to be from England and a US citizen. I want to honor all members of the military, who stand for our freedom. THANK YOU!
