Thank you to all that has served. I never served, but my husband was in the US Navy.

I have never served in the military, and want to offer my deepest gratitude for those that have sacrificed in order to uphold human rights around the world. The occasion of Remembrance Day causes me to not only pause and remember those sacrifices, but also reminds me of the cost of war and conflict. When political decisions are made that place our sons and daughters into harm's way, these sacrfices are not merely counted in a ledger or in a news report. They are counted in shattered and lost lives. Let us not forget that everytime a politician beats the drum for military intervention, it is not about puffing our chest and flexing our might, it is about asking our citizens to risk life and limb. While there are times when such risks are warranted and even needed, it should be a somber decision indeed and never one that is cheered by pundits on cable news. Can I just hire you to speak for me? You have a way of saying what I think, but verbalizing incredibly better than I. Perhaps I can just lay down a blanket statement, from this day forward whatever lyonsek says, I say too.

My mom served in the air force, I think. It would be nice to see if more and not less of this forum have served in some form of the military, whether here in the US or in other parts of the world. You must've have had to make many sacrifices, and therefore I salute you for that. I now present you with these following gifs, Thank you, veterans or soldiers, for your bravery. +1

Thank you to all the people who put themselves in harms way, give up years of their lives, time spent with loved ones, time spent on their careers, to protect those who can't protect themselves. Thank you.

Happy Remembrance/Veterans Day!!! Thank-you for all that have fought to keep our countries free. <3 My Sister in law and Brother in Law (my husbands brother and sister) were both in the Air force, however they didn't last long, as my sister was medically discharged after seven months and my brother was failing all his exams so got asked to leave My husband tried to join many years ago, however was told he was too overweight (even though he could do all the physical requirements) He is thinking about rejoining. I myself am joining the police force however if I don't get in I am looking at becoming a Military Police, in the Army or Air force ( I think they are called something different)

Thank you to all that have or are still serving! I work at Tinker Air Force Base and work side by side with those in uniform. They are all truly amazing individuals and I am grateful for their service and sacrifices they make!

Does the Kiss army count? Do you have mullet, a dickie-do, and live in your mother's trailer? Then yes, kiss army counts you among its sad numbers. Now shush, we're trying to honor relevant people.

Please make sure that Sony gets one of these badges. She was in the Canadian army for many years, and I think I can speak for everyone when I say we love and miss her and hope she comes back to us soon.

I too hope she returns and brings her amazing art with her.

Thank you, joelmoly, ASoldiersEyes, Jamvan, Countersniper, Melissa, Sony, and all of our past and present forum members who are now serving or have previously served in the armed forces. I am truly grateful for and humbled by your sacrifices. Granny and others who support those in the service, I offer my thanks to you, too, because you make it possible for them to do what they do on behalf of us all. As is the custom elsewhere, the poppy is the symbol of our veterans in the States. The yellow ribbon symbolizes those currently serving far from home, and our wishes for their safe and speedy return. Hopefully, in years to come, we'll have no more need for yellow ribbons. I am very proud of the veterans in my family, and I am thankful they made it home. To those whose loved ones died in service, my sincere condolences. Thank you, LSLeong, for this idea. I'm so happy that the forum has a way to pay tribute to those who give, and have given, so much to the rest of us.

So, I've finally got a few free moments to write about today. Without the brave men and women serving on the front line and at home, we couldn't have the freedoms we do have, and I certainly couldn't be sitting here writing this right now. Thank you to those serving countries other than America, as well. You are invaluable assets to your country, and should be commended just as highly as those serving my own country. Thank you to all Veterans and those currently serving for everything you do day in and day out, and for being prepared to make the ultimate sacrifice for the country you love. I don't word as well as lyonsek, but I hope I can still get my feelings across.

My Grandfather Reg served in the Pioneer Corps during WWII seeing action in North Africa with the British 8th Army and then fighting his way up through Italy and into Germany.
His father volunteered during WWI serving on the Western Front.
I'm very proud of them both and treasure their medals which have come down through the family to me.

My grampa was as a 17yo guy in stalingrad. That's where he lost his faith in god. I'd never put a gun against other human beings. I know this isn't what this thread is about and I also know mankind can't stop wars. Just wanted to be serious, my previous post wasn't...
