Ahh, understood, Spiffshine, thanks. I just didn't realize you were charged by page view. That does sound like a costly (for you) way to do it.

Gosh I feel bad for refreshing now! Especially for pms! Please don't feel bad for using the forum as you normally do! That's what it is here for and just how forums work. If you are browsing around and enjoying yourself, that is exactly what you should do. It is not wasteful and is exactly the happy kind of experience that people who donate would hope for you to have. Why support it otherwise? I only meant to say that pressing F5 to refresh the page every second in order to win a Rumble badge... well, that is a little excessive. Oh boy, I have really dug a hole for myself here... I'm sorry for my poor wording. Ummm... KEEP CALM AND FORUM ON

So wait, page views are bad for you? Sorry, I didn't mean for it to sound like page views are bad... page views are great for us! It just goes to show how popular our little home is and lets us know we are doing a good thing here. I encourage everyone to continue to use the forum normally... but unnecessary, continuous refreshing in order to gain some advantage for games like Whodunnit and Springfield Rumble does cost real money. Every time a page loads on the forum or in PMs, that is considered a page view. I wish that ProBoards only charge per post instead of per view, but I understand their reasoning behind it. Regardless, we have some very generous members who help keep us ad-free month after month. On behalf of the forum - YOU ROCK! That is why you stopped sending me love mails. As for the contests, I think they are a great source of showing ones creativity and get forum members more active. Personally, I love designing my town and playing around with hedges. However, some SPOFA themes are really time consuming, so for people who work full time (and house being renovated like myself ) it will be almost impossible to enter, although they might want to. It is really good to have different types of graphic contest, from basic to more advanced like SPOFA, so everyone can have a chance to enter and take part in one of them. I know I always talk about gaining badges as a joke, it is more like participating into the forum life. If I have time, I would enter any contest even though I might have got the badge before, because it is not about winning, it is about making it being active. That is my 3 pennies, not as articulate as I wish cause I am covered in paint, but that will do

I really enjoy it here and have paid my dues although the urge for another badge is tempting I agree with lisastown there is something for everyone which I love. My next challenge is the key to Forumfield but I have failed miserably so far

I really enjoy it here and have paid my dues although the urge for another badge is tempting I agree with lisastown there is something for everyone which I love. My next challenge is the key to Forumfield but I have failed miserably so far The only badge I really obssessively wanted was Maggie Homer shake badge, gosh I am in love with this girl and so gutted we still dont have her in the game. My first entry for Forumfield was the Town Hall and I was thinking heck this is inmy opinion my best design of the town if I fail to win I should just stop taking part in the coming contests. But later when it was Christmas theme, I entered again because I just thought playing is cool why stop even when you know you wont win, and I didnt win, the sweet Fraggle who won let me have the key and I will do the same if I won again (no chance I will thou). Anyway, it is tough, but thats why its a great competition, make people try hard and harder. And when you finally win you feel so worth it because you made some decent efforts. I do think you have a beautiful town and its only a matter of time that you get the key :-)) Personally, I think people who run this forum are extremely admirable. Not only that, they come up with badges, competitions, games for over 2k members out there to be active. I think if only a small percentage of inactive members get awake, all these photo contests are more than enough to get this community survive another decade :-)))

Considering all the page-refreshing I've done on here, especially for Whodunnit?, I now feel a little bad for not having bought a view package yet. *Pulls out credit card* It looks like your guilt-inducing enlightening sales pitch explanation worked to perfection was perfectly reasonable.

We can always match the particles

How about to create avatars of forum members in our towns? That would be a cool contest!

There seems to be a lot of discussion about contests. I enjoyed the pirate day submissions. They were fun, silly, and didn't require any special talent other than being willing to participate. The art contests are amazing for me to watch, but even if I had any artistic ability, I'd be far too intimidated to submit anything. I can see how the judges strive to be fair, but the fact is, I have no artistic ability. It's okay, I can't sing either. Now bring on a cooking contest? I'm smoking the competition! Well at least making a good showing. One last thing, I checked out the writing contest, but I don't have the ability to make the comic to go with it. Sometimes the rules do seem a little daunting. They probably aren't, I just may need to ask for technical clarification in the future. I applaud the effort to give everyone a chance at something!

Idea: collaboratively ghost-write a mystery novella (just 4 chapters) by Lenny LeonardWe could all work from the same list of main characters and overall outline from the start, to make sure the story actually goes somewhere, and that we don't keep undoing each other's plot developments. (Maybe the P&R committee could help with establishing the outline and main characters.) There could be 4 weekly challenges, with each challenge devoted to 1 chapter of the novella. Each chapter could be told from the point of view of a different character in the story, so that we wouldn't have to worry about everyone trying to write in the same style. Characters for the novella could be based on in-game Simpsons characters, though--like maybe the "bad guy" is Bronty Churns instead of Monty Burns. (To Granny's point above: I agree that the visual contests are great, but it would be nice to have more writing contests that are really just writing, so that those of us who aren't artistic or technical can still participate.)

Granny there in lies the genius of the badge system if they were all easy to get, we'd all have the same profile full of badges. I agree though, some are quite difficult and take a lot of effort, but I think that's half the fun. But I understand not everyone knows how to put a comic together for instance, but that being said, I'm sure there's some awesome people here who would be willing to help people with things like that, myself included. Write a story, get your screen shots and I'd be happy to help you put the layout together And lakooo I love your idea! +1

I actually submitted an idea similar to lakooo's a month ago where it was a monthly comic book challenge where you had to create a comic book scene of sorts (each month would be an issue), make a short story, and the winner gets the old Android's Dungeon badge or the Lenny badge if they don't already have it.
