kayley: I use Chrome and get this error sporadically (sometimes all the time, sometimes not at all, but seems to happen more when I'm on iPhone/iPad than PC). Tried a little light research on the subject and, best as my non-technical brain could ferret out, looks like it's related to fact that this version of ProBoard forums is still in beta testing, so there are still some wrinkles being ironed out.

Sorry, I think it might be out of our control, but will pass it on up the food chain to people who actually know stuff. The other option, in the meantime, might be to try another browser, like Firefox or (gasp!) Internet Explorer.

Using safari (Mac, not the iPad) I get something similar prompt. No reference to AJAX through. For those with interest in web design Ajax is an add on to Microsoft ASP.net, there are some nice web controls in there, e.g. input control (allow numbers only etc etc)

It's definitely frustrating, and to be honest, I'm feeling frustrated and disappointed there doesn't seem to be anything we can do about it. I wish there were an easy fix, but I'm hopeful that when the final version of ProBoards launches, this problem will go away. In the meantime, I will try out other browsers and report back on what errors (if any) I experience. Maybe some members would be willing to do the same?

Actually I get this error on my android phone, but never on my iPad. I assumed they were just trying to get me to buy the app

No, it has to do with how pages are loaded, the overall environment. There is an update expected in April, this will hopefully address the issues. If not we might have to revisit some plugins

I've actually never been able to use the app for this forum. It works fine for another ProBoards forum I use, but it tells me this one does not exist. I just figured it was personal.
If I pm this board on my phone I do it through Safari, which is kind of a pain.

I've both posted on threads and sent PMs from the app without issue. I occasionally get an error message about not being allowed to use the app by this forum's admin, but it goes away and then whatever I was doing works fine when I try again. I have learned to copy longer messages/posts before hitting send in case something does go wrong... then I can just paste what I'd already written when I try again. Learned that one the hard way. More than once too.

Thanks, I'll try to let it reload next time. I'm also working on a 4 (for my phone) and I have noticed it has started to slow with a lot of things in recent weeks. I don't have the same issues on my iPad.
And yes clipboard and notes are my best phone friends.

Really Just use safari instead of buying a $2 app. I find it has a better setup and also allows easy access to other websites instead of flipping back and forth between the two.

On a side note... I find it a pain having to save photos to image thread or some site... Most of my photos are over 1 meg...
I assume this is the only way to upload pics?

Well you can upload in the app... How are your image files over 1MB? You should scale down the resolution to something appropriate for web sites and message boards (800x600 max, 640x480 recommended). Those would also be under a MB.

Kind of an editing question so I'll put it here instead of a new thread...
We used to be able to re-size pictures in our posts but now I can't seem to do this anymore. Any reason why this changed? Just curious....

When embedding a photo, I've always had to resize in Photobucket... That's so weird... At first and for a long time, I could just click on the pic I had added and the little squares to re-size would pop up. I just realized tonight that I couldn't do it anymore....But I just started using Google Chrome instead of Firefox and now I get annoying messages just moving to the next page so maybe that's the culprit. Oh well...

ORIGINAL TOPIC: ProBoards App Notifications
Ok, I get emails telling me I have PM's
I log in with the Proboards app, on my phone and it does not show any new PM's.
I've tried dragging the screen down and it says checking for new PM's, but none show. When I log in using Safari, I see messages I haven't read; but they are marked as read so they don't show up top.
If I close the app through the task bar and then reopen, the new messages load.
Anyone know of a better way, or should I just start closing he app through th task bar every time I'm done?

I don't use the app as I ain't paying £3 for it when I can just go onto the web lol I find that the majority of app need to be closed down properly for them to reload correctly, like with the tapped out game when there is an in game update if I don't close down the game I won't get the update

I don't have that issue. Most apps run fine for me.
I thought the app would be useful for when I'm not home, particularly since I don't like to cross play with work on the wrk computer. But the way Proboards bounces the screen around when you go to point in a thread makes that impossible. Triggers same reaction in me most games do.
But except for this, it's fine for PM's.
