Hi all. I'm a new user and have been trying to sort through some of the gaming forums for starter tips, especially regarding neighbor etiquette (seems there is no single method!), glitches/cheats, and earning tactics. I'm still absorbing all I can, but one current curiosity is corn. I'm wondering if it's a good use of the wait time or if that depends on where one may be in the game. I've seen info regarding glitches with corn or 'stacking handshakes' but I admit to being a little lost as I don't quite have the game/forum lingo as of yet.
Any thoughts on the subject? Or, if there's a better place for this post, my apologies, and might I be pointed in that direction?
I did try a search, but I'm getting error messages.
If it helps to inform the answer, I occasionally log on at hour increments, but I'm generally a twice a day user. I'm at level 16 and I'm not a spender.
Thanks much!

Not worth it. You have to wait so long to get any money. You're better off growing moonshine every day for 90 days - you'll make more money too.

hooper, the "stacking handshakes" glitch is long gone anyway so disregard anything you see about that. If you are playing every day and need in game cash go with the moonshine like Doc Holiday suggested, or one of the shorter-term crops. Do the math, you will make loads more that way than you will growing corn. If you want XP triffids are the way to go, as I and lynstace do. (And no, growing triffids will not lead to the end of the world, you just get a lot of XP and no in game currency.) At your level I think the currency is more important than XP so I would go with the former suggestion. Welcome to the forum by the way.

Thanks so much! I appreciate the tips, and yes, money is most important at the moment. What I've learned so far regarding 'neighbor relations' is that graffiti is not actually considered a hostile act, no one can tap on my items if I clear them too soon after completion, and tapping on short turn-over items like the Simpson House, the Brown House, KEM, etc are not considered offensive, exactly, but aren't preferred. Does this info seem accurate? I don't exactly know what a 'tile' is, though I think I discovered one on a neighbor's Squid Port. I have read it's good to tap that. Does this still hold true, or was that more in regards to the 'stacked handshake' tie in, which no longer applies? While I'm certain I'm boring you with these novice queries, I do appreciate the feedback and the time you've taken to answer! I know these are pretty basic questions, but I like to grasp the ins and outs as soon as possible and I'd hate to be missing something obvious on the neighbor front. Thanks again for the input.

hooper, Graffiti is fine with me since the buildings you can tag generate no income other than when I clean graffiti from them. (Some people don't think it's "nice" so if you are worried about it just tap something else.) Try to tap buildings that take the longest to earn money/earn the most money. Most people will just be happy you visit at all. No real point in tapping Squidport tiles, Channel 6, the Open Air Stage, or KBBL radio - they earn what they earn and will not regenerate nor expire. Tapping crops CAN help your neighbors since crops can wither and die (and therefore have no payout) if they aren't tapped within a certain amount of time (varies depending on the crop) and tapping them resets the clock - but if your neighbors are regularly clearing this doesn't matter. It is nice that you want to be a conscientious neighbor but the bottom line is that this is a game and you should enjoy it! Just tap and have fun. And don't worry about boring anyone - I think it's refreshing to see a new player. Many of us are so jaded all we do is complain.

hooper. I only wish I had this forum when I started playing October 2012! I have still asked many questions about the quests, so ask away. I just blundered along, not knowing if what I was doing was right or wrong. It is really nice that you are asking questions!

I agree with the others, at your level you probably need the money/XP you get from the other crops. I'm growing corn because I'm at level 43 & don't really need the cash. Growing corn means one less thing to tap 1-2x a day. A downside that hasn't been mentioned yet is that growing corn means that when the inevitable "Grow whatever" shows up on your task bar, it'll be there for a looooong time.

At this last level, I'm just growing corn - one less thing to deal with. Now that recent updates have obliterated by $5m fortune (land and Level 44), I'm regretting that.

General Goosebumps if you have changed your mind just store the farm and it will cancel the corn.

Like some others I just grow corn because it's one less thing to worry about, and if I did grow other things it wouldn't help me much, seeing as I'm at the top level and make plenty of money a day. But yeah, when you're just starting Moonshine and Triffids and stuff are worth it! A looong time ago I wrote a "helpful things to tap in friends' Springfields" guide, but the guide is completely worthless now. Handshaking something no longer starts a second timer or increases the payout or anything I think. No matter what you tap your friend will probably appreciate the visit. But yeah, do tap on the farm, especially if it is withered. And welcome!

General Goosebumps if you have changed your mind just store the farm and it will cancel the corn. Oh, I'm well aware. Just it's already almost halfway through, and I don't care enough to waste that time and money.

I love corn since you don't have to deal with it. If we could get the TV and Radio studios with similar long term things I'd be free to manage the 2338756 characters each day
