A thing I always found frustrating when I started playing was that the landing zone moved everytime I bought another plot of land. It does this because the game puts the landing zone in the middle of the land that you have actually purchased.
If you still have a long way to go to purchasing all the land, then if you want anything in your landing zone, you have to constantly redesign a large chunk of your town to try to keep up the ever moving landing zone.
For example I always spell TAP with arrows pointing to my glitch. Every time the landing zone moves after purchasing a few plots of land, I have to move every fence piece, every hedge, etc... plus move and rebuild what is in the now new landing zone to make room for my TAP, arrows, and glitches, which this could be a complete part, shopping plaza, a Holiday Theme Park, etc... with a lot of little and specifically placed items.
Well thanks for the help from Granny, @ray, SuperDoll, and A Bad Example on this Downgraded Landing Zone thread I wanted to move the solutions shared to a Guide oriented thread to make it easy for anyone to stop their Landing Zone from ever moving again (unless they add more land or water of course).
SOLUTION
Simply buy land in one long strip to the edges east (right) to west (left) and one long strip north (top) to south (down) until the edge in each direction. Then your landing page will be in the exact middle of all available land and will not move anymore as you buy more land to to fill in around the long spikes of land.
@ray pointed out to me my dumb luck with doing it the way I did. The way I did it....by pure chance, though I would love to claim otherwise....makes sense with it being cheaper than other ways. I went along the top for my East to West strip which is $39,000 to $56,000 for each lot of land. Then I did a strip down the middle of my map, not the edge of it. The middle lots along the bottom are $56,000 to $62,000 which is where I ended up with my stripe up and down stripe.
I lucked out just from pure luck!
If I had done it along the sides for my up and down stripe, It would have been up to $124,000 per lot....which would have taken me up to 3 times the amount of time and $$$ for each lot of land.
The strip down the middle is also very useful too. My town was so crowded with buildings just stacked side by side and back to back...I hated it. Instead of storing buildings I don't have room for at the moment, I just now use that strip as a my temp storage area. This then freed me up to actually start designing my town with stuff I have wanted to do for the last month or two, like make an official nuke waste dump site behind the power plant, a driving course for the DMV, and a real prison with realistic fencing / courtyards / etc.... while still getting the $$$ and star ratings for having those buildings in the still somewhere in my town.
Here are few samples of what I have used my landing zone for and why it was such a big deal for me when it constantly moved. (you can click on the pictures for a bigger picture)
