Help PNR Design A Game It’s a new year and PNR needs some inspiration. So we decided to kill two birds with one stone by making a game out creating new games. With the success of both Whodunnit and Monopoly we’ve discovered the forum loves board games, so we’ve decided to roll out a new board game for the new year. Since this is Off The Map we are asking you to use your town (or one of your other towns, or your friend’s town, or that town you know your brother, sister, husband, wife, child, roommate, or cat abandoned months ago) to design a board game and give us a description of how the game might work and how it can be Simpsonized. We ask that you do not submit entries for games we currently run (so no Monopoly boards) and think about games that could include multiple players per round (so no chess or checkers). You also need to make sure the game board is playable. While we will probably develop a game that works in a similar fashion to our existing games, your design will serve as the foundation for that game and will hopefully serve as the game board we play on.What you need to do:- Use TSTO to create a game board.
- Include a picture of the game you have used for inspiration.
- “Pitch” the idea. Why would this game work.
[/b] winners. First we will hold a community vote. The winner of this vote will receive the coveted Homer Car. However PNR reserves the right to give out a second winning badge if we feel we can develop a second idea. Please submit entries to PnR Submissions between January 18, 2014 and February 1, 2014. Please keep in mind that the Cheating Policy is in affect for this contest and all others. [/ul]

Question: Does the suggestion really have to include screenshots? I have an idea, but I'm not sure how to add screenshots to this awesome game, only pics from episodes. Edit: D'oh-tastrophe Inc.

Am I missing something or is this for a real board game company?

Am I missing something or is this for a real board game company? It is just what it says. Take your favorite board game and make it something that can be played on the forum. Like Monopoly Mondays or Who Dunnit Wednesday. Although hopefully it won't be something tied to a specific day of the week so that those of us who work have a chance to try them. To be honest, I have no idea how the existing games are played. If I'm not at work I am too tired to play, so why bother?

I saw this post last night and it is a really cool idea. Currently I have a couple promising ideas for new games. Thank you for the compliment but there are so many talented people on here D'oh-tastrophe Inc. can we submit more than one idea?

However, should we use a bracket system (we're not 100% sure on how we'll be judging this), your entries would be put against each other.

You always have such great, innovative ideas and design Thanks man. But, what A Bad Example said. I wouldn't want to deny anyone a chance to get a badge. I may have an idea or two, but can I just pm those to PnR, I'm sure they're always open to hearing them

Wait... so we have to make (map out) the board game in our game itself?

I had a few ideas but I thought we were going to make the board itself, like the monopoly one with images from the game.

Yeah that is what is so difficult about this. I have great ideas but they are hard to make in the game. Well damn. I had a few ideas but I thought we were going to make the board itself, like the monopoly one with images from the game. yeah, it would be so easy to photoshop this and create beautiful boards, but D'oh-tastrophe Inc. has made it tougher on us, and that is probably for the best as this is a TSTO game so we should be constrained to working in the game. I wonder how many entries there will really be, but I hope I can figure out how to create the board game in the game itself. I am working on a couple ideas, but only time will tell if I can pull them off. I ran out of money in one of my extra towns, so that has added to the challenge. Oh well, if it were easy, everyone would do it. This truly is a creative challenge that has had me racking my brain to create something cool and has given me a goal to shoot for between game events So D'oh-tastrophe Inc., I am not complaining, but actually saying you all did a great job creating this contest. It is just a difficult challenge.

It is just a difficult challenge. I have the board mapped out like the monopoly one on a piece of paper. After you said it indeed had to be made in the game, I started but I only got a little section done. Now my brain's frozen in place. I'll try and tinker around with it this weekend to see how far I'll reach because I'm in the middle of a redesign and I have a truck load of crap to do in real.

It's January 30. Only 1 more day for submissions. I admit, I am writing this because I am excited to see what everyone comes up with and seeing the voting brackets.
