OTM: Update Mania Obstacle CourseEven though we have just finished a major game event, many forum members are already preparing for the next big event. To taunt celebrate those who are always anticipating the big thing, we have decided to create an OTM that focuses on the “motion of the ocean, not the size of the boat.” With all the new content released for Halloween, it’s probably time to start thinking about redesign. Here’s some motivation. The goal of this project is to show off your Springfield and share your TSTO memories. 1) Create an obstacle course featuring six buildings and structures released during major TSTO updates. Then show the Simpsons family (Homer, Marge, Lisa, and Bart) navigating that course. 2) Share your TSTO memories. Give us a brief write-up of why you chose the buildings you did and your funny memories of that update OR if you are a newer player (or an older player experiencing memory loss) - create a story behind why the Simpsons family is going on this adventure. Be creative in your explanation…please. Your entry needs to be animated. Since we all can’t be neighbors with each other it’s the best way to share the time you spent. If you don’t see yourself as a computer whiz, or you don’t have the technology to create your own animations Mitzy, Chrisp530, Spider Pig, and A Bad Example have agreed to help others animate. If you have skills and are willing to help forum members I’ll be happy to add your name to the OP. We just ask that you know that your course works before having someone record it. You will not be judged on the quality of your recording – remember this is for fun and to challenge us to try new things with our towns – creativity is more important than slick production skills. Structures that count towards the contest. Although many of these buildings can still be purchased, they were first released during major TSTO events. Buildings that were featured during level updates that occurred during an event or were released to correspond to US-based holidays will not be included toward your total. Feel free to include any other accessories, buildings, or structures that you feel ads to your story, but know that if these items will also not be counted towards your total. Please submit entries to PnR Submissions. Contest will be open from November 11,2013 to November 25, 2013, midnight CST. Any entries submitted after this time will not be considered. One submission per person, group entries will not be considered. PnR is working on new guidelines for judging contests, more details later. Judging for this contest may be delayed due to Thanksgiving holidays in the United States. Don't know how to animate your course? A Bad Example's guide to making a simple animations and a list of members willing to help others with the final phase of animation will be available by the end of the day.

Fraggle - Thank you for another contest. You, and your fellow helpers, have created a great forum and this is definitely a unique contest. I am excited to get started and have a pretty good idea of what I want to do and these buildings will make this very creative in storytelling I see that you mention animation. Does it need to be animated? Would not having it animated hurt my chances? Will will get any examples just to understand what you are looking for?

We want to see the characters walking the course (they don't have to all do it at the same time). We'll be posting some how to animate guides shortly and there are some folks who are playing with it now so they can help those who are a little intimidated by the animation part or do t have the equipment to do it themselves.

Fraggle, could you please change the rules to reflect that entries have to be animated? Currently it's not mentioned in the guidelines at all and not everybody will read the comments to find this out.

This forum keeps me so busy in my SF. I think I have an SF just play the games on this forum. I believe I have seen an animation tool in my Photoshop program. I have yet to play with it though. Looks like this challenge may give me a reason to learn about that tool.

I wanted him to post it so he got credit for it, not me. He did the work. I think it might be one of the programs that people used for the Maggie Shake. You don't have to use it, but it may be user friendly for people like me who don't know how to use it.

But, I like learning new things and am up for the challenge of figuring out something new.

I have also posted this in the game guide section. - Zoom out as far as you can.
- Frame the area where your characters will be on your screen.
- Wait for the buttons to time off your screen.
- Take several screen shots as they move. The more, the better.
- Load the images onto your PC.
- Review your images; and make sure you know what order they should be in.
- Go to a site that create animated gifs. The easiest site for this I have found is picasion.com; and all instructions will be for this site.
- On the Create an Animated GIF tool, add your images in the order you desire. Picasion allows up to 10 images to be added.
- Select the size and speed of your animation. Picasion's default settings work well.
- Click the Create Animation button.
- Click the Save this animation link to save the animated gif to your computer.
- Upload your gif to your favorite image sharing site. You can then link to it the same way you would any other image.
And so you can Mayor Quimby dodge the garbage on the road.

How to create a video of TSTO.
If your IOS operating system is 6.0 or later, you have Airplay installed.
You can install a program called Reflector on your computer. This will talk to your IOS device. Once you start the program, you will see Airplay activate on your device.
You will then see your device screen on your computer monitor.
Use your favorite screen capture program, such s Camtasia, to record this.
This does not require a jailbreak. Reflector costs about $15; but it also has a limited free trial period.

Yes, that would solve the problem. Thank you. I'm amazed they're actually staying on the path, other than a couple going sideways here and there, they really stick to the route.

Even in Squidport.

Finally finished. That was a lot of work. And, I hope the phrase "brief write up" can be interpreted liberally Only if your brief write-up is full of carefully crafted expletives detailing your trials with the experience.
