My friends list shows players that haven't logged in for 2 or 3 months, but they are obviously playing as they are on level 35. It shows others that have logged in daily, but I haven't seen any activity in their town in weeks. Toggling back and forth between the drop down list that shows logins and the actual town I'm checking is tedious. I've resorted to making a list of what appear to be dead towns and then checking them for a few days to see if there are any new buildings, are characters on task, any new decorations. There has to be an easier way.

Agreed, In the beginning I deleted neighbours based on origin info before I realized I was wrong. Same here, but then I deleted everyone without SP and KL! That is easy with the new design of your neighbor towns.

I think the log in information is based on when they logged into origin on the computer, not the game. So if someone has origin set to login whenever th computer starts up, it would show them as daily players, while those who don't use origin often, like me, might be shown as not logging in for months.
I just recently went through and deleted any names I didn't recognize from either my visiting of favorite towns or their handshakes in my town.

Granny forget about clearing out your list....you should be adding me instead. Ill be happy to add you, but my town is very boring. I'm too cheap to decorate. I'm saving money for wine.

I fear there truly is no easier way. It's awfully tedious. I cleaned out my neighbors just the other day. I made a list of every handshake I got for a week. Then a list of all my neighbors. Cross referenced both list, then checked out all other neighbors for signs of activity. Below level 34, no new buildings, no people on jobs, no or spoiled plants on the farm and they were gone. I have about 30 spots open now. I should probably fill those before Halloween

I would also like to know this. Is it easier to do on the computer. For some reason it won't let me delete people on TSTO itself

Ah the new goo indicator will be an easy way to tell who's actually playing without hunting through friends towns. Everyone has until Sunday morning to get started on goo collecting, and then I'm cleaning my list again.

Bumping for the link in the third post. Good info for those of us cleaning out our MIA/no-update neighbors now that it's the weekend.
