With updates expected to push on Monday 9/16/2013, ProBoards will include a way for those that purchase badges for themself a way to re-gift the badge one time.

Giftable vs Regiftable - We had a number users that purchased a stack of non-regiftable badges using their own account and then get stuck with them since they are not regiftable. For example Sally buys 5 Great Staff Member Badges from her own profile. She assumes that she can then hand them out to her staff. Except she can't. The badge system was set up that you go to a persons profile to gift them a badge and buy it there. But we understand in bulk this is inconvenient. So now all badges have a single giftable charge. So if Sally buys 5 of them now, she can give them all out. The person who receives the badge cannot give them away (unless they are regiftable) since the one time giftable charge was spent. This lets Sally buy many badges at once and still give them out. The charge also burns itself out if you buy a badge directly for someone. So for example. Jim buys a Great Staff Badge for Sally. He goes to her profile and buys the badge. Since he bought it directly in her profile we consider that a gift already. Sally cannot regift that badge, the charge is spent.

Think of it as you can always buy badges for other people either in their profile or yours. If the badges are marked regiftable (the little present icon in the store) they can be passed around forever. If not, that's it, just like it's always been. We solved the problem of buying stacks of badges all at once. (Giftable badges are not marked in any way, if you wonder if a badge is giftable/regiftable then click it and open up it's options dialog to see if you can give it to someone). This change is not retrocactive, so badges you've already purchased are considered already where they should be. New purchases will follow this new system.
