It occurred to me last night that EA could, potentially, start bringing in the bam hammer on those who have used the harp glitch to snag donuts. I know they haven't said much in regards to the glitch, but EA hasn't classically been the most forgiving company when it comes to hacks or exploits, and banning people who used this wouldn't exactly be out of character for them.
I was graced with about 200 donuts from this, and I know many others have gotten much more. It would be a shame if every person who used this had their Springfields deleted, but from EA's perspective anyone who uses this is stealing from them.
I'd love to hear some opinions. Do you think EA is going to come down hard on those who have used this? Why or why not?

I highly doubt it. Its there problem and what can you do? Iv not been lucky enough to get this but if I did I wouldn't be worried about getting banned.

I don't think so, unless someone went way overboard and re-did the glitch several times to score several thousands of donuts. Personally I think that everyone locked out deserves at least a couple of hundred donuts for their troubles.

Maybe I'm not understanding this harp bug. Is it a bug or a glitch? Wouldn't a glitch be something that the player is intentionally manipulating to their profit? Can a player give themselves this harp bug?
If because they "contract" this bug and then are given a bunch of donuts when it is resolved, I don't see that as a glitch or abuse of the system at all. I see it as rightful compensation for the pain and suffering they've endured (kidding....sort of).
Still not understanding how this can be called a glitch.
I don't think EA will do anything about it and if they did? They would be in the wrong because this isn't something people are giving themselves, it is the outcome of a massive bug that EA is doing nothing to resolve.

From what I understand it's possible to contract harpies multiple times by leveling up, hence I haven't dared to put my citizens to work since I got back in because if I got it a second time I wouldn't be able to get in by myself since I had to have another player with an iphone 5 to help me last time (thank you so much joshhuffman, I am forever in your debt!).

Im with Melissa on this, there was a huge uproar because players couldn't get into there game because of the harp, I know a few of my friends recently got back into the game who were locked out from the harp issue so Im guessing its been fixed? I honestly know nothing about it cept players were complaining about it and when they did get back on their game they received free donuts or at least some did

Really I think they won't. I mean NOBODY intentionally made this happen to their game. Plus it's not our fault, it's a bug in the game so what could we do but try and play again?

I think the bonus that comes with the glitch might have finished. I read that nice fellow josh who has been helping everyone get it unlocked hasn't been getting the big bonus donuts just the regular 1,2 or 3. I had the harpies this morning, took me an hour to get back in and got 3 lousy donuts. Anybody still getting hundreds of donuts after the dreaded harp? link to the post about the glitch for 1000 donuts having finished tstappedout.proboards.com/post/12504

There is NO incentive for EA to ban anyone so I would be surprised to see a for-profit company waste valuable resources on this.
They will close the holes when they have the time but even that isn't a big driver as the vast majority (99%) pay for donuts.

EA can't punish you for accepting yet another example of their fine coding skills.

I don't think they'll take any action against individuals but don't be surprised if there is an extra expensive premium item in the next update.

You mind if I steal your avatar? I know someone who did this recently while stair climbing and texting.

What glitch? We couldn't get into the game. How do you fault a player for trying to get into their game? If doughnuts were gained, then it's the developers fault. Personally I only saw 5 doughnuts when I got back in. This was no cheat, no hack, just players trying to access their game

Being honest I only experienced the Harp glitch yesterday, before that I had to go few the bonus donut screen for about 10-15 minutes, so it seems that there is two glitches one where it loads the Bonus XP screen and one where it doesn't that causes the harp sound glitch but leaving the game open for 20 minutes or more gets you into the game and you get one bonus XP screen.
EA cannot really ban people for a glitch that is of their own doing, likewise if there were to ban people, they'd be banning innocent people that didn't know it was a glitch if they got the one with the bonus screen after bonus screen.
And some of those people might actually be paying members plus you have to remember there are millions of people playing so if say 30% of those millions of people getting the glitch are banned but 25% are paying players then EA have just lost 25% of revenue from those paying players so it would make no sense to ban players.
Likewise with the Facebook games and other iOS games that have glitches, I've not heard of anyone being banned from those types of games it's not like it's FIFA or a Console or PC Title where the actual game is pirated so they lose sales, TSTO makes a profit from you actually playing the game so a ban from accessing the game would serve pointless and also they can just sign-up as a new user with a different email address anyway.

Also, like the friends glitch that causes you to get millions of cash, EA put in two game items that totaled up to 3 million to solve that sort of glitch if you wanted every item the game had to offer .

I learn from the best, EA. Popsicle Tower and Elevator to Nowhere were both way more expensive than any building which proceed them. There is speculation that this was to soak up money earned in the friend's glitch which seems to make sense,
