So would you like us to recreate a specific Mondrian piece? Or would something that is inspired by his style, like this, work as well? (Not entirely sure, but I believe) The work that served as inspiration is called Composition A (1923). i definitely like this..

The high school I attended was actually designed after Mondrian's works. All of our floors had this type of line work, and all the windows were Single pane boxes in weird configurations.
It was nauseating.

This was my first-ever attempt at creating an "art piece" in my town. I thought the Mondrian theme would be pretty easy. WRONG! First, it tried to recreate "Mondo Cubo" but couldn't make the math work and have the pieces fit. Then tried "Broadway Boogie-Woogie" but it looked like s*. So I scaled back my plans. Haha. Obviously, I need to work on my artistic skills. Source:

^^ very nice! I immediately thought of broadway boogie woogie as well, but the different scales would be too hard. The cubo was another thought But first I need to break down part of my town to find space anyway

I'm working on Broadway Boogie Woogie, but the colors are way off. Nothing like that yellow.
Probably won't be able to finish it due to space, but I'll do what I can and post next week.

With the success of the last contest, the Springfield Palace of Fine Arts (SPOFA) is happy to announce the start of a monthly art contest! Each month, we'll present you with a new artist or theme for you to create an inspired art piece in your town using the decor items. This month's artist is Piet Mondrian who was known for his abstract paintings. You are free to use buildings as well for this challenge. Please post your finished art piece in this thread along with a picture of the Mondrian painting which inspired it. All entries are due by 11:59pm Tuesday, July 9. The Pics & Rec judges will pick the top three and bring them to the forum members for the final vote. All worthy entries (ones that show some effort) will receive a David award if the artist does not already have one. Winners of the challenges will receive a beautiful new Gummi Venus de Milo badge. The rarest gummi of them all, this award was carved by gummi artisans who work exclusively in the medium of gummi. We hope you will treasure it rather than eat it I have three things to say. 1) glad I misread this. I thought deadline was Thursday, and I don't think I'll make that. 2) glad you didn't limit it to just abstract. 3) Fraggle deserves the gummi retroactively. I think it will be a long time before we see that kind of work again.

So many good submissions! I was trying to take advantage of the isometric angles in the game. Looked better in my head, angles don't quite work. It's supposed to be based on this
