Yaaaaaay! I'm so glad you've noticed and thanked the forum's design team, fspj, because they work really hard and do a fantastic job--and they don't get nearly enough recognition for it. The main designer is the wonderful Spiffshine, with lots of assistance from mdfriend. Spiff is the one who came up with the overall design of the site (and the one who creates those fantabulous banners, I think). This place has so many custom-designed graphics for contests, character-created threads, badges, our Simpsonized forum portrait with personalized Simpson avatars, and a million other things that there is actually a whole Art Department: Abigail, juliusgulius, koda1021, mdfriend, President Dude, rsommons, Spiffshine, and @yossarian. We owe them a big Thank You and a round of applause for everything they do to make our forum unique and fun. |

I've done a lot of graphic design myself and definitely notice when it's done well (might be why I get so particular in my town; even the trees need to be rotated in almost every case). You must have a huge library of Simpsons stuff (or be really good at Googling). I'm thinking of something as simple as the Father's Day banner. You have to find the characters, cut them out (Ned's hand covers the O in TSTO, which means smooth photoshopping), place and scale them so they create a balanced image, and then the drop shadows add a crispness and elegance overall. Homer's highlighted with a glow so I don't think it's just an image you pulled from somewhere. It's simple but very impressive. And it's just one banner. They change all the time, during special events and holidays, etc. Spiffshine, I for one appreciate all the creativity and effort that goes into it. So now I know it's you, thank-you!  And to everyone else who contributes, thank-you, too! And Andy, your avatar rocks. Long live Flight of the Conchords! |
