I was thinking of making a "Squidport progress pics" thread, lol, but I think this is a better place to put my pic. Instead of buying a water section (33,000 or more), with my very limited fake cash I wound up buying the three cheapest beach sections right away (19,000 each). Anyway, obviously short on cash, this is what I've thrown together so far. (The extra wide-view pic is courtesy of combining multiple screenshots.) (I'm not actually the world's biggest beach volleyball fan, I just try to use volleyball courts as extra beach, heh heh.)
edit: June 14, 2013 ... This is gonna take a while! Lol. edit: I started a slowbro's Squidport album. I'll try to keep it updated. my latest June 22, 2013:

I am currently more working on the beach due to lack of tiles (and since I am not far in story progression either)

Here's mine. Click on the image for a larger view Is that all the boardwalk tiles or do you still have more to get? I'm wondering how big the final product will be, i.e. how much water we can cover with tiles.

I sure hope we're not all expected to finish the waterfront by the end of the summer months (like Whacking Day). edit: Wait, there might be a lot less than 150 groups of tiles to build, if you eventually start building more than one at a time.

It isnt a summer event its an entire new element of gameplay. It probably adds up to a year of build time for all tiles.
