OK, this is cool - from the other forum... Run Android apps on your PC or Mac. Just one catch - Android doesn't have the Origin login yet - D'oh! Should be fun once the Android version gets it! From my Mac moments ago:

I played it for a few, but the emulator messed with my MacBook and made it boggy. If Android ever gets origin I may use it for massive overhauls on my town since moving things around is a pain on an iPhone.

D'oh-tastrophe Inc., does the mouse function as what you would do with the phone's touchscreen when you use the computer?

Edit---I play on my iPhone For now, no. Since Android doesn't have origin yet, there is no way to log in to your town on the PC. Someone in the "other board" thread (maybe dcline?) mentioned some other programs. I remember one of them (AirServer) for those of us on OS X, but I don't remember if the other program mentioned is for PC or not. For anyone with an iOS device that supports mirroring (iPhone 4S+ and I don't remember the rest), AirServer is worth a look. I don't know if you actually play the game on the computer (has to be Apple) or on the device. I don't have mirroring so I couldn't get that far.

Boo! As it'll be a long time before I'd be able to get an iPad, I guess it's just the small screen for me for now. Good thing my eyes haven't gone on me yet ;-|

So you load the Android version of Tapped Out on your computer. Unfortunately the Android version doesn't yet have the ability to log in to Origin servers, so your iOS Tapped Out game is stranded there until they add that to the Android app. Once that happens, though, you can play your Springfield in Tapped Out on your computer! I had to turn the sound off - it was glitchy (at least on my old MacBook Pro). But other than that it seems to run just fine.

Mirroring is just that - showing your iOS device on some external display. There is no remote control of an iOS device (that I'm aware of anyway) from a computer. If you have a Mac, you can always load up Xcode, register for an iOS developer account at $99 a year and then play Tapped Out in the Xcode emulator. Seems to be a bit of an extreme solution though And now that I think about it, the emulator is only for apps you write so nevermind....

docno42, thanks for the clarification. And even if the emulator had been for TS:TO, I would have just saved the $99 a year and put it towards a boatload. Haha. Maybe something will come along for us Mac users...

Maybe something will come along for us Mac users... At the same time it does for Android users; the ability to log into the Origin servers. Hopefully it won't be long. It will be a great solution for our iPhone only friends out there! The only that that concerns me is BlueStack is "beta" - I wonder when they go out of Beta if they are going to charge for it. Time will tell...

Time will tell... I do hope not. Like I said, the only problem I had with BlueStack is it made my MB laggy and did weird pixelation stuff with the screen. I can tolerate that for ease of moving things around in my town. We'll see how it goes.

Hope an Apple version comes out. Or Android gets Origin.
Do you need your phone active or plugged in?

The BlueStacks eumlator is in beta anyway so expect a few issues. I was the one that announced it over on 'the other place' I was going to post it here but was waiting for Origin support on Android.
I like that you can have it running in the background whilst you're doing tasks so if you're doing short tasks you can go about your computing business whilst Tapped Out is playing etc.
It's a lot easier to select stuff, so rebulding your springfield will be a lot easier, but as I said the emulator itself is a beta so expect bugs.
I would assume that also, EA would do a Windows Phone / Windows 8 app version too...

Bluestacks is a bit of a mess, but it works most of the time. I used to use it to run a few apps when I switched over to an iPhone, but it hasn't gotten any better. Clunky but acceptable.
