I should rephrase that. Are they premium features that can be bought for the forum like removing ads, etc?

Swanky, you can pay to remove ads for a limited number of page views here. It's something I've looked into myself but it seems to be a little overpriced for what you get...

Once a payment is made and gifted to the forum how long does it usually take to show up?
Now I think about it - it will depend on the date selection or whether you leave it for staff to decide.

Aside from donating ad-free space for everyone (which isn't worth it, because 50,000 ad-free views were used up in 1 day back when the forum was only a few weeks old and had far fewer members, so Lord only knows how quickly it would go now), members can "subscribe" to ProBoards for US$3/month, which removes the ads for them once they've signed in. Anyone interested can go to their own Profile page, click the Gift tab, and subscribe to ProBoards from there. A very big personal favor to ask: would you kindly consider retitling this thread to something like "Ads on this forum" or "How do we get rid of ads on this forum?" Vaguely titled threads are my bête noire. Thank you! You are the best |

If we have made a donation - how do we know if it has been applied? As in - I could be away while the site is ad free?

When we had our last ad free, I never even realised, since I mainly use mobile version which doesn't have banner ads  |

I use adblock on chrome and adfree on my mobile for the web page and i also have proboards app but I wanted to offer something anyway... I was just curious...

I'm glad that this thread popped up since I wasn't aware of the gift yet. Those notifications go to the main Admin #1 by default, but since Zuzu's retirement, that account is not checked very often. I'll have to see if I can make sure they go to me as well. I the meantime, if anyone wants to send a gift, it would be a good idea to also PM and Admin so we see it is there! 50,000 page view will last about 2-3 days with our current traffic - less if there is an update. I'd be happy to flip the switch when you are most likely to be online, Linz, or as close as I can get. We also get more traffic on weekends, so I can wait for Monday if you prefer. Thank you for your gift to the forum and for being all around great! |
