I thought there was a cost involved (when we first started this forum)? One of those VIPs here must have taken care of it.....probably not @neosec28 or IDGAFF though --- ha ha ha ha ha ha ha  |

It was a forum member who was very generous. The page views add up quickly so it might not last long, but I want to thank them all the same. I won't say who just in case they don't want to be known.

It's a shame there isn't some kind of one-off payment to stay ad-free forever that the whole community could help work toward with donations, if they wished. As it is now, the pricing seems to be pretty ridiculous. I'm sure it's expensive for Proboards to host all of these boards for free but as dcline414 said, I can't imagine many people paying to stay ad-free with the current prices. =/ |

Yes, the ad-free price structure is pretty ridiculous. You would think they would make more money by more forums opting-in if it were more affordable. Ugh... It is what it is, I suppose.
For those generous members who would like to pitch in, each gift of 50,000 views lasts approximately 2 days. We can decide when to deploy it, so you can send a gift for just the weekend or to start on a Monday if you prefer (send a PM to an admin so we know of your preference). or you can just have it start immediately. These are all member-only views (guests see ads no matter what).

There is 1 way to keep it ad free permanently, for free. Use an ad blocker I have AdBlocker Plus I think it's called, for safari, and I've never seen an ad on here since day 1 |

They go out of their way to tell us that we can't install anything like that on the back end or they would shut us down. What you do at home is out of our official hands though... |

I think you can pay a few dollars per month to not see the ads yourself, but that's just for your individual login. Now the question is, if some people pay for ad-free on their accounts, do their page view still count against the site-wide ad-free total. That would be sad for us, and basically double paying Proboards for ad-free. |

Hey Andy, I do not get paid for this! I have no official, public stance on the private use of ad-blockers. I was merely stating that we can't use them site-wide for everyone. That is a very good question, dcline414! I know that on the support forum someone complained that search engine crawlers were counting against his forum's page views, which is nonsense, but I have no idea about individual paying account holders. |
