Marge The Riveter! I'd like to dedicate this art piece to a great friend Waylen I literally could not have made it without him. And a huge thanks to keys1980 for keeping up with my chaotic brainstorming and gridding this up for me. Thanks for your help! My next one I dedicate to you Truly amazing art from a truly amazing artist and neighbor! Really feel like this is your "coming into your own" art piece and I expect great things from you. A big shout out to keys1980 for helping Erin get her grid done. I offered to do it but she wanted to go with the best and who could blame her.

Looks brilliant Erin +1, looking forward to the next one. Our brainstorming sessions were good times. Waylen, too kind.

Well, thanks to a couple of factors I have finally gotten around to attempting an art piece. I admit that I feel intimidated by the likes of keys1980, Erin, Mitzy, Waylen, ThorButtockth, and everyone else, as your works are just amazing. However, after doing some more detailed "designing" while working on a game board for the January OTM contest, I gained a little confidence and after seeing keys1980 's latest Toronto Blue Jays creation, I finally found my inspiration. I know I live in Texas now, but as many of you know I lived in Michigan for 30 years. I, my wife, my brother, and my sister all are proud graduates of the University of Michigan (in fact my high school/middle school/elementary school mascot was also the Wolverines - I went to the same school district K-12 - so I have been a Wolverine all my life). While it is definitely not on par with all the great creations in here, I am happy with it (though having a yellow decoration would have made it awesome). Full Size

Nice. By chance, have you seen the burning bush? It makes a nice yellow. yeah, and I was going to use them, but they are so short, next to the really tall phone booths that you cannot really see them, especially since the actual spelling of "MICHIGAN" ideally should be in yellow

My OCD is very pleased! Well done on your first piece. My brother lives just outside Detroit and is a big Michigan fan, I'm sure that would be his favorite artwork ever. I think you made the right decoration choices, it's tough working with taller items blocking out shorter ones.

Great first piece brettolmsted! My only complaint is that it's way over due from you. You've got the eye to have been cranking these out for some time now. Can't wait to see what's next.

Can't wait to see what's next. yeah, I have a few ideas that I might start working on now and finally have the space created in one of my second towns. I usually only have time to do this kind of thing for a couple hours at night and with the string of events we have had, I was busy trying to visit friends and do them, rather than work on art. Now, we will see.

Really well done, Brett! I actually love that you didn't try to maybe force other decorations into it to give it more color. Using only one decoration, and especially the metallic blue of the phone booth, makes it look really clean and sharp (which is arguably most important for logos and the like). Although, I do feel the need to say... ... you're intimidated by me? I think you have our relationship backwards. (I'm aware the photo is taken out of context, hehe)

brettolmsted inspired me to do something else in my second town. KL is where I had room to try, so little color effect. I don't know if it qualifies, but it's worth a shot.

Time for all those ideas to start rolling around now...the tough part is the painstaking deco placement...and then the eventual teardown makes me want to cry. I think there's about 50 different things I'd like to try now!

Here is an art project that Mitzy, keys1980 and myself collaborated on over the weekend. We decided to go with a 'Simpson's Kids Gone Bad' theme. But that was a little too easy so we decided to try and give it a twist and and show Bart, Lisa and Maggie all grown up. This is the resulting group picture: keys1980 also made a thread here that gives a little more perspective and shows who created the different pieces.

Ok tonight I'll add everything from these last two pages that qualifies to the first page gallery and badge whoever doesn't have one (that made an actual art piece not everyone as in u TDP!)

shelfcleaner this is really impressive and I really love your incorporation of Squidport. Thanks keys1980 for tagging this. I really need to catch up on this thread it looks like there's a lot of new work here. Edit: holy Buddha since we seem to be going with a religious theme here.

So this is only my second art piece. I felt better about it before shelfcleaner really show us all up (it's amazing), but I put a lot of work into this and want to say thank you to Waylen, keys1980, and Mitzy for all their help and inspiration. I had the opportunity to go to Italy last summer and my wife and and saw a lot of fabulous art and architecture and Botticelli's Birth of Venus is a masterpiece. I had the idea of recreating it and then I found the simpsonized version of it. So here is the original Botticelli: Here is the Simpsonsized version from which I worked: I had wanted to include the ribbon and Lenny and Carl, but due to time constraints and without having to take screenshots, tear down, and work in stages due to the item limit, I had to recreate her left hand. So, here is my masterpiece: Full Size
