D'oh's How to Guide of Design
Have you ever been baffled by someone's design and wondered, "how did they do that?" Ever seen an amazing 3D work of art and wanted to make your own, but had no clue where to even begin? Well, you've come to the right place! I've decided to use my ability to record the screen of my phone to help the community out by making a "How-to-Guide" of how to design some pretty awesome stuff. Of course, I don't really know what everyone wants to know how to make, or is interested in making, so please suggest below on what you want to learn how to make! I'll make a video as soon as I can to show you what to do. It can be something as simple as a shamrock, or something as complex as rolling hedge hills. Just a couple of notes; - I'm away on the weekends, so if you ask for something from Friday-Saturday please know it probably won't be made until later Monday evening or Tuesday.
- If you view one of my videos and the annotations are soaring by and you can't read them, please let me know. I read over 500 words per minute, so the annotations take me mere seconds to read.
Of course, if you have any suggestions on how to make the videos better, let me know! Do keep in mind the videos go straight from my phone to YouTube since I don't have any good video editing software (all I have is Windows Movie Maker, bleh). And, no, I can't teach you how to make awesome keys1980 style artwork. You're on your own for that one.
How to...
[/font][li] Make a Simple Forest[/li]
[li] Make a Small Hedge Hill[/li]
[li] Place barriers on water[/li][/ul]

- Linguo Is Dead for (possibly) discovering that barriers can be placed on water.

There's no sound.. I can't pay attention to silence that long and why when people make hills to they not wrap around to the back? It looks more like steps..

There's no sound.. I can't pay attention to silence that long and why when people make hills to they not wrap around to the back? It looks more like steps.. There's only two ways I know to add sound. I can use Movie Make to add sound, but it severely diminishes the quality of the videos. The quality is sucky enough, and then having to download it, convert it to another format, add music, then reupload it, then reannotate it just turns it to quality so bad you can't tell what's going on. I can add crappy YouTube music if it helps. And, I never figured out how to make it look good, and when I've seen it done it doesn't look great. I'm not here to call people out or knock their towns down, but I know there's at least one panorama where someone tried to do this. I like the rest of their town, but that aspect just doesn't appeal to me. To each his own, of course.

Yea I tried it after I commented (cuz I don't have hills, they don't look good IMO) but realized if I try to wrap it around It makes it look like a hedge maze cuz it connects the 2 layers.. Lol

This is a good resource that I'm sure a lot of people will find valuable. What did you use to record the screen capture? I'm sure there are a few apps out there, this just seemed to work well and wondered what you used.

It was the only one I could find but the downside is your device has to be jailbroken since Apple removed it from the App Store. If you find another one let me know. I'd love to try some more out.

Something I do when placing trees and forests, after every tree I place I use the rotate function because they have a slightly different view / artwork when rotated.
So when the forest is completed, the same type of trees look slightly different facing a different way

AirServer and then use a screen captue program on you PC or Mac.

If its a 4s or newer, it does. It just does not show until you get a device running AirServer on the same network.
