It's been mentioned in other threads, but certain tasks involving premium buildings pay better than slightly longer tasks. For instance: Bart's 3-hour in the Aztec pays more than his 4-hour skateboard, and Martin and Skinner's 6-hour stargazing pays better than their eight-hour tasks. And CBG's 6-hour in the Aztec pays better than his 8-hour in Java Server. Those are the ones I can think of.
Also, characters who have premium skins earn more when they're wearing those skins. So Santa Homer's 8-hour pays more than regular Homer's 8-hour. Marge and Burns also have premium skins.
Finally, if you have the patience for it, you can rack up a ton of cash if you're willing to spend an hour relentlessly tapping the leprechaun (that sounds like a euphemism for something especially unsavory).

I'm so glad to see this topic and it helped me quite substantially. We need more quality guides like this on the forum. Here are some suggested topics: -How to collect money from buildings? -How to send characters on tasks? -How to download Tapped Out? This may or may not be sarcasm (maybe need a little sarcasm sign ) but I definitly love a decoration guide, with things like : how to make a forest, or how to make an hill, what can you do with signs and water, etc.

Don't know if it's already been said, but fat tony in the hot tub and ned going bowling has also a better payout than the next longer tasks.

All of the above is great. However I want to point out that it is disruptive to house farming when people tap on your blue and white houses as this resets timers. Stay away from them and tap on people's brown house farms. There timer is five minutes and resets quickly for people setting there character s on one hour tasks. Just sayin..... Wait! What does this mean for me? What do I have to do when there is a handshake?

What does this mean for me? What do I have to do when there is a handshake? Nothing other than tap on them to collect. What you quoted was part of an ongoing discussion which really has no answer. Basically I was saying that there are people like me who only check there game every 8 or 12 hours....blue houses have an 8 hour time and white houses have a 12 hour times so when a neighbor collects from them it resets the counter messing with people who want to collect all at the same time. So again, I really does not matter, its to each individuals style of play on what they tap and or clean or graffiti. So keep on tapping away....

Now that I am at the top of level 37, got the bulk of my town made how I want it, Imma start buying land outside my town and just building blue and pink houses and go for the money to buy all the big items. Good advice, lets hope this isnt a 6 month idea.. lol.
Wish i could spend the real $$ that a lot of my neighor-enos did on theirs to get the premium items, but I have been screwed out of thousands that other apps have costed me when they just stop the app due to some unforeseen reason that no one saw coming....

Totally agree I dont house farm but it is really annoying when you get certain houses to pay out at the times that suit you for loggin in and low n behold someone has tapped the white house which means i gotta ignore that house till the timer catches up arrrggghh!! lol Sorry, tapping on a brown house makes 0 sense. Tapping on a long term house at worst means I ignore it when tapping the others. I've seen this "don't tap my long term stuff" theory espoused over and over, it's just bunk. Tapping the brown house or Simpsons house might as well not tap anything, IMO. Really you should tap none of them and vandalize, but if you're tapping tap a long term house so it resets earlier. I'm curious to know why the opinion is that vandalizing is the best action to take when visiting a neighbor, sure it is a building that doesn't produce cash, but $16 and 2 xp are hardly worth cleaning it. Also, if another neighbor clears it before the town owner, the owner's righteousness rating will plummet. I tend to remove neighbor's from my list that only vandalize.

everyone has a different style of play. I agree that only vandalizing is bad not only for your righteousness but for the one vandalizing as well.
There is no way to please everyone.. you would have to have a list of what each of your friends prefer and "Aint nobody got time for that". It is what it is, be happy you got visited.
