Since the Forumfield project comp on Burns v Homer I have really been inspired to create better areas in my town - especially after seeing the really excellent Burns Manor entries. What I thought were OK designs needed more effort spent on them - I have been fiddling and tweaking again! Now I have redesigned two areas - Burns Manor and my Town Hall and Town Centre Gardens - a theme is emerging and I can now see me continuing this trend to improve ad infinitum - trouble is I never have any money. Old Burns Manor: New Burns Manor: Old Town Hall and Gardens: New Town Hall and Gardens: Thanks for all the inspiration for design I find on this forum. I have become very fond of this place - it's kind, helpful and clever designers (not got the hang of 3D yet - that is to come). This TSTO Player Forum really enhances my enjoyment of the game and forever tweaking and improving keeps the game alive and interesting. (martini) and/or (beer_mug) to all of you (tell Moe it's on the house) EDIT: Any feedback and what you like or don't like is most welcome.

Fantastic! I wish there were more players like you who are looking to make their city constantly better. I love everything but I will give you a few minor irritants:
-A little bit too much gray space in the second photo (the statue and lemon tree look lonely) -Would be nicer if the bottom quadrants in the second photo also had a unique middle -Rose bushes look a little toxic to me but that is EA's fault
Man this is good. Well done. Bravo.

Wow, how many tiles is Burn's mansion taking up?

Well done. Bravo. I think you are right about the grey space - to the south west I had a different entrance - I will play around with it a bit. The problem is the same as always - the pavement, road and grass tiles are all 4x4 and I think it inhibits design. I have tried several decs in the middle of the quadrants and I am not happy with most - hoping for something good in the Easter update (if there is one) I like the Rose bushes - lol - each to their own. Thanks for your comments jarci1

Both awesome. Wish I had the space.

This is a really cool thread. I'm tagging the Forumfield team, rsommons, D'oh-tastrophe Inc., kidENO, so they see it. Your Burns Manor is outstanding. I love where you went with the Town Hall. I do agree there is a lot of gray space around the statue. Maybe surround the statue with a square of hedges? I'm always running out of money too.

Ahhh...I'm spending all this time thinking about your design instead of my own!
EA really has not given enough usable buildings materials. I have had some success stacking snapdragons so you could consider that. How about a gazebo or butterfly house as a center piece?
I really like the water from the 'before' screenshot as it has a Washington monument feel.
I like how this design really makes me think.

Hi jehenyen, I did have some flowers round the statue - I will put them back to see if it looks better. jarci1 - I did try both the gazebo and butterfly house, but as there is no access then I won't have it - a bit OCD maybe, but it has to be as real as possible for it to work for me. I am going to try to incorporate some water again - I liked it on the previous design. In my Springfield behind the Town Hall the water continues. Thanks for the input - I will gather more pluses and minuses and then start tweaking!

Excellent work! DO enter that town hall whenever we run it. You're setting the bar high for a competition that hasn't even started yet. Keep up the good work.

These are bananas, Corks. Excellent job! Your designs were nice before, but they are absolutely lush now... and symmetrical. I heart symmetry. Perhaps you can work out some of that grey space in front of City Hall by just un-paving the edges to let some grass show, while keeping a paved promenade in the center?

Made changes - good to see the water back - a lot more compact. Not sure whether there should be seating where the fountains are - could be overkill? Attachment is full size Attachments:

I vote no seating. This really looks amazing and should be entered for sure when that week comes around. Nice job!

I would add a single seat in the recesses behind the fountains. No doubt I will fiddle with it a bit more before any competition comes around (I just can't help myself!).

The lack of rotation on benches and fences bug me more than any other decorations. I too hope they fix that some day. I can't help tweaking my designs too. Usually the tweaks are for the better but sometimes they make me wish I had an undo button. Yet another wish.

Those are amazing. One of the best burns manors I have seen! The town hall gardens are beautiful. They really need a Versailles-type castle (if we had one), the town hall looks almost puny.
