It’s weird to see how small Springfield used to be. IIRC, the game originally only had 13X13 grid to play with.

The OP made me remember an old screenshot of my Springfield. It was assembled some time around the first Halloween event, but well before Squidport was added to the game. (Could it have even been before the first Christmas event? I don’t see any of the buildings we got from it.) “Stalag 13” (my brown house cash farm) shows that getting loot for expansion was still a concern. What a fun time that was. Checking in constantly to get rent and sending the few characters on 1-hour (or less) jobs in order to get in-game cash...

I had completely forgotten about the days of house farms... You have made me want to search through unsorted picture folders from back then and see what else I can find!

I checked my notes, and the screenshot above was assembled in November, 2012 – during the Thanksgiving event. (My town got lost by EA in mid-October, and was AWOL for six weeks. Losing the town was the impetus for making a record of it, in case I ever needed to start from scratch.) The shot below is from February, 2013 (during the Valentine’s Day event). By this point I had been able to unlock all of the available land. My notes mentioned that the game got very unstable during the winter theme and crashed nearly all the time. That it why much of the land in the southeast is undeveloped.
