Battle Tips: Superheroes 2016 (Revenge of Tap Ball)
If looking for an event walkthrough, there are a few sources outside the forum, e.g., Wikisimpsons.
If looking for general discussion about the event, see the update thread.
General Battle Info
Superheroes are back, and this time they fight the villains roaming your town in a battle structure that...seems a bit familiar.
Fighter strengths and weaknesses:
Each hero/villain is categorized as brain, tech, or muscle. Each category is weaker than one of the others and stronger than one of the others. Fighting the weaker category means each punch takes two hearts (instead of one) from the opponent. Fighting the stronger category means each hit loses two of your hearts (instead of one).
Cycle of strengths and weaknesses (also diagrammed in battle info screen for speedy access):
* muscle beats brain
* tech beats muscle
* brain beats tech
Options during a fight:
During a fight, you can:
* punch (or whatever animation) the opponent, dealing damage
* swap fighters (new fighter receives a hit)
* replenish health with Sciencewater[/li]
* if your current fighter is out of hearts, choose a new fighter (no hit received)
Fighter order:
The order in which the opponents appear is the order in which they will fight. Similarly, the order in which you select your fighters is the order in which they will fight. (Since you can swap yours out, this feature is most useful for selecting your first fighter.) You will send one-three fighters.
Healing:
Fighters will heal with time (each has a countdown), or you can use a Bandaid to heal one instantly.
In-Town Battles
Generating baddie groups:
Once you have built Burns's Summer Mansion, it will spawn three groups of villains every four hours. You can have up to twelve(?) groups in your town at once.
Scoping out the baddies:
The villains walking around in each group are those you will fight. Once familiar with the characters, this makes choosing battles a bit speedier.
Rewards:
You will receive rewards for losing battles and for winning battles, though the reward for winning is larger. There is also a daily bonus for the first win.
Lost battles:
The remaining villains from lost battles stay in town and can be fought again later. It appears this nets both the losing and winning bonuses for one group of baddies.
Neighbor Battles
In these battles, you use villains to fight your neighbor's heroes. (Friends will not know that you have challenged them; thanks, those in thread who helped sort that.) Your villains cannot be upgraded, but more can be obtained from the social prize track.
The social track prizes are accessible only by completing a certain number of neighbor battles. It does not matter whether those battles are won or lost.
Like neighbor visits, neighbor battles are on a 24-hour cycle. You can do three each cycle, and a new cycle starts when you've completed your first battle of the day. (Thanks, Solar Dragon.)
