I would love to see even a basic communication tool between neighbors. For example I saw a thread where someone had a neighbor that was still tapping on their buildings when they visited. Chances are the neighbor isn't on any forums and doesn't know there is a Valentines Update....but no way to tell them. I understand the need to curb the potential of abuse of this system and to keep it a family friend game so even if you can only select from a drop down of preselected communications, that would great. Some of them might include: - Love Your Designs In Your Town
- Missed you visiting lately
- Happy (Current Holiday)
- Check out the latest Game Update.
- Thank you for being such a GREAT neighbor
- Tag you're it! I just dropped (holiday event item) in your town
- Something that says nicely...."Are you still playing?"

i really like your idea and I can tell that you have thought this through to avoid abuses and harassment/vulgarity. My only fear is that if EA can't even give us more land due to stability issues, how can they implement something that takes even more movement and user interface (I mean they can't even organize our inventory/decos to make it user friendly)

brettolmsted, I agree. I just think this would a lot easier to implement. But this is not the top of the list of WishList....you nailed it, a two tier deep organization of inventory items is my #1!

I used to play FarmVille (shhh! ) They had a feature where you could leave a small sign on your neighbours farm. It wasn't really needed since it was a Facebook game and they had a chat feature, but it was good for compliments on designs. This game could use a communication feature. I still have about 20 neighbours that don't use the forum, so they don't know about glitches or where I'd like them to tap.

i mean they can't even organize our inventory/decos to make it user friendly) Well that is true so far but they did give us the new alphabetic order of our neighbours listing. THAT is at least something that people are wishing since a long time and then EA did it finally. So they do listen, but I admit it takes a whole lot of time.

The alphabetical order of the neighbors list isnt new at all. It was that way long ago and EA decided to "fix" something that wasnt even broken. In fact they've "fixed" the neighbors list more than once as I recall and always with complete disregard for players wishes. All they did was put it back the way it was. Its really a shame the time they waste on window dressing type issues when there are important problems to address like server stability. Maybe its the pessimist in me but I wouldnt be shocked at all if they apply another "fix" to the list with the next event.

I never noticed that but then again I am not playing since the very first beginning. I started around whacking day last year and as far as I can remember the list has been not in alphabetic order, but then again I could be wrong or just not remembering it right. So if that is the case that the list was in order in the beginning then EA messed it up, then indeed this is not something that would fall into the category "they listen what users want". Anyway we all are playing the game even though the conditions are so "bad" as some people might describe it and we all keep on playing even if everybody (except me) seem to hate EA. I don't know maybe it's the optimist in me but I don't really see how a game that's free to play and brings so much joy into my life (plus the many hours I spend on it) can be seen as a failure or something people constantly have to complain and bashing about. In the end EA obviously seem to make "something" right, or else we all players would just stop playing. Anyway. HobbesIsReal your idea of having a neighbour communication as suggested is a good one. I like it so let's cross, our fingers and hope EA will ever implement it one day

As if Last valentines the friends list was in alphabetical order. This changed later. Ea just finally put it back.

I certainly dont need you or anyone else jumping down my throat for not kissing ea's ass. Its sycophants like you that enable a multimillion company to disregard its customer base with near impunity. Get back to me when you have skin in the game.

I noticed a while ago that the Origin program for Windows (and I assume for Mac) have a chat feature. So I can technically send a message to my neighbors on Tapped Out. I haven't tried it yet, though, as I'm pretty sure the neighbor would need to have the Origin program as well (and check it often enough).

I tried the origin chat feature once and it freaked out my neighbor cuz I didnt warn them first. We went back to pm's after that. We both had the Origin client installed on our pc's.

I spend more than £300 on this kind of free game and I also don't complain. Because it's my own choice so why don't you grow up and stop whining about? If you don't like paying - don't.

Hey guys....play nice. What is unique about tstappedout.com is that this actually is a really neighbor friendly community drawn together by a common entertaining game based on a loved cartoon.....and one that has been around longer than some of this forum's members have been alive on this earth, I might add! The culture of this forum is friendly. There is nothing wrong with different opinions about the game, events, EA, etc.... I generally find it refreshing here to be able to talk about and learn about different player's perspectives, while still respecting their points of view that might be different from mine, be it about EA or in the off topic threads. This is the very fact that has drawn this community in this specific forum together and makes this place stand out and is unique when compared to the culture of the EA forum.

I love this idea. Though I honestly don't think a limit on what to write would be necessary if there is a system in place to report abuse and EA actually investigates and bans players when they do abuse someone. A few years ago I used to play a freemium tapping game which allows your neighbors to leave short messages on your message board. The board is public, so all neighbors can read the messages that were left to you.
Maybe I'm naive, but I think the opportunity for abuse is rather limited. First, only neighbors can leave messages. If you have problems with a neighbor, just report him, delete him and it's over. Then there is the short message length, limiting what you can say. Curse words could be censored etc.

Back to the topic,
I would love a way to contact some neighbors. If a message system is too hard, maybe at least let players add a tag line of how they can be reached, like bs03 on tstoforum or *@*.*

This way you could say hello to your neighbours friends whenever they are online and none could create abusive messages when you are offline. Of course if someone still does while online there should be a simple block option so that from that moment on the bad guy will see you as offline, even if you are still online and enjoying the game This way it would be simple and it could be implemented by the EA team with technology that is known and established since many years.

I am not sure if that would really work well tbh. TSTO is a game you can spend surprisingly little time in and still get a lot done. E.g. when I'm busy I log-in once a day, speed through my neighbors (or not, as the case may be ), give my characters 24 hour tasks and in less than an hour I'm gone again. With your idea, if someone wanted to tell me something, they would have to catch me in this one hour or miss their opportunity. With players in different time zones and having different schedules etc. I imagine that would get old really fast. Does it really matter if someone left an abusive message while you are online vs when you are offline? You would still see it and still know who wrote it and could report it. P.S. As an aside. You have recently become my neighbor. I love what you have done with your black hole +1.

I didn't think of THAT I was too much thinking about how I myself use the game. I am every day playing for hours. P.S. As an aside. You have recently become my neighbor. I love what you have done with your black hole +1. Yeah I LOVE my black hole. Actually the idea of putting the black hole into the centre wasn't even mine but the idea with the spiral was mine so I can only take credit for the actual design around it, not for taking the black hole towards the centre
