My esteemed colleagues in the Pics & Rec department have come up with another game to entertain the members of this forum. May I present to you Forum Monopoly.
As the only one in Springfield to actually own a monopoly, I assure you I have taken great lengths to formulate this game to ensure fair play. Follow the rules and the first person around the board to reach “GO” will win this "excellent" badge!
Preparation: Each game held may only have 4 participants per game. A separate thread is started prior to each game to determine who the players will be for the next game slot. First to sign up will be awarded one of the four participant spaces. Note: Members may only sign up for one game per week. This is to allow other members to have the opportunity to play too. At this time, any members who have already won the Monopoly badge may not play again whilst there are other members still trying to achieve this badge.
Player order: Each player will need to roll the die by typing [ roll ] without the spaces. The player with the highest roll will go first, the player with the second highest will go next, so on and so forth. In the event of a tie roll, the players who tied will simply roll again to break the tie.
The Play: Players start at “GO”. When it is a player’s turn, he/she simply roll the die to determine the number of spaces he/she will move along the board. When landing on a property, the player will then need to post a picture of that specific property from their town. Example: If a player is on “GO” and rolls a one, that player will need to post a picture of their Simpson House. Once the picture has been posted, that will officially end the player’s turn and that player will remain on that space until their next roll. TIP: It may be helpful to have pictures of your town’s properties taken before hand to assist in rapid photo posting.
D’oh!: If a player lands on the “D’oh!” space, the player will need to move back 2 spaces.
Woohoo!: When a player lands on a “Woohoo!” space this means the player advances 4 spaces forward.
Free Parking: When landing on the “Free Parking” space the player will have the luxury of not having to do anything other than occupy that space.
Jail Penalties:
- When a player lands on the “In Jail” space. They are in jail and lose a turn.
- If a player lands on the “Go to Jail” space, the player is moved back to the “In Jail” space and loses a turn.
- In the event a player lands on the same property twice in a row, the player is sent to the “In Jail” space and loses a turn.
- If a player rolls the same number in 3 consecutive turns, the player is sent to jail and loses a turn.
No Response Penalty: In order to keep the game moving along, each player will have a max response window of 15 minutes. Should a player exceed this window of time they may be disqualified from the current running game.
Next player tag: Once a player has taken their turn, a courtesy would be to tag the player who is up next to alert them to their turn.
