Am4692I hope you don't mind I didn't recreate your image exactly. If I put that entire image into a 64/64 grid it would lose a lot of fine detail. If you want I can redo as is but as I said much of the fine detail would be lost. Pixel art is a balancing act. Suggested decorations. - for the black outline use double and single space hedges - for the light blue of his shirt, hat and eyes use double spaced blue lawn chairs - for his brown hair use brown fencing or benches - for the white of his eyes use concrete, white fencing or propane tanks (trash homer and Lisa clean up) - for the darker blue of his flipped up hat I would probably use dark green shrubs - for his hammer (lol) it's tricky and a substitute will be needed, I would say maybe do it with black snapdragons or green shrubs. - for his glove use dark green shrubs or if you used that for the hammer use the black snapdragons for the glove Just note, do the outline first then color it in, when you are doing the coloring that requires double spaced blue lawn chairs or double spaced benches and or fencing you can tweak the outline or design slightly as needed.

I finally got to the point that I liked how I decorated all of my building and was starting to think outside the box for designs. So I got a little cocky when I saw your art and the art of all the others on here. I thought to myself "Its just making and outline and filling it in. How hard can that be?" Well, after one attempt of very basic design that was already plotted out on a grid, I can humbly say that it is nowhere near as easy as I thought. There is definitely a subtlety and technique to taking a image and recreating it as well as I have seen from you guys.
I admire not just the art but the effort. From plotting to decision making/problem solving to the sheer time and patience to see it through. And to do it with what limited items you have to work with makes it even more amazing.

I'm loving doing this. Been experimenting in krustyland too but the decorations available suck Already planning on destroying the Simpson family to create 6 new Disney pieces which should keep me out of trouble for a while.

Ok, I'm ready to ask for some help. Keys is there anyway you can grid this for me? I would really appreciate it.

WaylenThis should work really well in town with such an easy color scheme. Washing machines for the yellow, single and double hedges for the black outline and snapdragons for the dark grey headphones.

This one turned out way better. Thank you so much keys1980 for the grid. Mitzy after looking at your recent pieces I used some of your spacing style. It really made a difference. Sorry about the poor picture seams.

Man I have a new respect for keys1980 and all you guys that do these things in your towns. I'm about a quarter done with Captain Planet in my side town and I'm wondering where all my time went and my finger's hurting. It'll be worth it when I done... I have another request for my main town. Can I have something this?

Keys for Duffman, would you count the squares an do the whole thing once starting from the top line an working down, or outline the whole thing first?

Keys for Duffman, would you count the squares an do the whole thing once starting from the top line an working down, or outline the whole thing first? I always just do the outline first then color it in. The outline is the hard part that requires care and concentration. Once it's done coloring it in is easy.

When I get home tonight I'll sort that flag for you.

Swanky Now if you actually make this it will be one of the largest flags I have ever seen in someone's town. I love flags! Rocked my Canadian flag for a loooong time. Only thing with flags is I don't do any outlining. I just stick with the colors of the flag. My suggestions for decorations will sound daunting.... because it is daunting. I would use phone booths for the blue and white snow sculptures for all the white. Those two decorations are similar in height so I'm hypothesizing that it would come out nice and clean. You could do a test patch. Something I often do to see if decorations work well together. For the red I would use red newspaper dispensers. They are smaller in hight than the other two decorations but still cover nicely and I think they would work best. If you want to save time you could use a mix of four square and single square red flowers for the red and use lawn chairs for the blue. Then just use concrete to represent the white. All just suggestions feel free to use whatever decorations you might want to substitute.

The town I used to create my Red image for SPOFA has about 150 of each of the whacking day tents. And I will be stocking up on pumpkins before this one is over. And some dead trees. Never know when you need to create signs of a toxic waste spill.

A Bad Example, that is fantastic advice. I do the exact same thing. I currently have 1500 pumpkins in my inventory, had I not been so poor during whacking day (due in part to my decoration limit induced early retirement) I would have bought a ton of tents. I also bought a shit ton of purple rock wall. lol I should post pics of my inventory. I'm quite proud of my hoard of decorations.

1500 pumpkins is more than I would go for. Just because I hate the idea of storing them. This is the secondary reason you can see the severed heads littering one of my towns as part of the obstacle course. I think I bought a couple hundred of the cash snow females last X-Mas.

keys1980 Thank you! I'm going to start this in my main town tonight. It'll give me a much needed break from the Captain Planet and I can put a dent in all that cash I have stockpiled.

A Bad Example1500 may seem like too much but it really isn't. If you can recall my Devil Flanders it had almost 2k red newspaper dispensers. You just never know if you might want to do a piece that requires a character consisting of mostly orange coloring.

You have to do, to learn. Keys makes some nice pictures that are easy to create in game. Or you can make your own. Stitching web sites will convert an image into something to be laid out. The hard part is deciding what decorations are closest to what you want to achieve. And we would be willing to make suggestions.
