Is it possible to block a signature? Yes. But you either block all or none.
Why would you want to block a signature? Too many reasons to list.
You can do this by clicking on Profile
Click edit profile
Click the settings tab
Scroll down to show Signature and select no
Scroll to the bottom of the page and save your change.

I think the story went something like that, but it's been a few months. I sometimes use this feature when people use scrolling or flashing texts. It really messes with my eyes. |

Is my signature an offender? No not at all. To be honest I never noticed yours blinked....until now (cue ominous music). No it's mostly large things scrolling in marquee. I blame A Bad Example for all instances of marquee. |

Animated avatars and signatures are mostly fine in my opinion. It's only when they are obnoxious on the page that it is a problem. Obviously you are going to notice images on a page, but anything the draws your attention immediately to it and holds your gaze before you get to reading is obnoxious.

So, if I was to have a sig with huge blinking, scrolling, flashing, spinning text saying "LOOK AT THIS" on a flashing disco-ball like background, would that be okay?

Animated avatars and signatures are mostly fine in my opinion. It's only when they are obnoxious on the page that it is a problem. Obviously you are going to notice images on a page, but anything the draws your attention immediately to it and holds your gaze before you get to reading is obnoxious. 's avatar doesn't bug me. However some people have had animated avatars or sigs that crossed from annoying into the realm of "causes physical discomfort". Avatars like @tdpreys is currently using can cause problems for people with eye problems, or neurological problems. I know they cause me migraines. And others on this forum have previously stated similar issues. Let's be thankful if there are any epileptics reading, that their drugs work. |
