The Family That Plays Together... In a recent P&R submission, @themeparks4life suggested a Photo Challenge honoring Grandparent’s Day. While we all stood around and scratched our heads, perplexed by this mysterious holiday, it did inspire an idea. Family is a central theme in the Simpsons franchise. As summer either comes to a close or is just on the horizon, depending on where you reside in the world, getting outside and hanging out with the family is a goal for many. Since we are celebrating some classic Simpsons moments in our September monthly challenge, it seems appropriate to honor the roots of Photo Challenge as well. For anyone who is new to the Photo Challenge world, below are links to some of the early Challenges. Photo Challenge is the oldest contest in this community. Early Photo Challenges required nerves of steel, organization skills, and a points system that requires a creative interpretation of math. tstappedout.com/thread/195/challenge-cover-rolling-stone-febtstappedout.com/thread/1457/challenge-get-shape-mar-26The Objectives:- Create two separate scenes of the Simpsons family (Homer, Marge, Lisa, Bart, and Grandpa) having fun together, one in a recreational space of your choice in Springfield, one in Squidport.
- Each scene should be restricted to a single screen shot. That mean you should submit one post with two individual screen shots. One of Springfield and one of Squidport.

- You will receive 20 points for each complete screen shot. So everyone who meets the basic requirements in Objectives will receive 40 points.
- You will receive 5 points for every additional member of the Simpsons family you incorporate in each scene. So if Maggie appears in both the Springfield and Squidport scenes, you get an additional 10 points.
- Sharing the Love: The Simpsons aren’t the only family units living in the TSTO world. You will receive 10 points for every additional family unit featured in your shots and 15 points if those family units are interacting with each other. So if Ralph and Wiggum make it into your shot at opposite ends of the screen, that counts as 10 points. If Wiggum and Ralph are together then you receive 15 points.
- To sweeten the pot, the entry the community feels has the highest “fun” factor will receive an additional 10 points. This will be based on the number of "likes" a post receives. Keep in mind that the "likes" tend to favor early entries, so waiting until the last minute may or may not be the best strategy.
Some Guidelines:- You can submit ONE time. You will not be allowed to revise or edit your entry once you have submitted. If EA decides to foil our plans with some sort of pesky “update” we will discuss opportunities for change (if it matters). This does not mean we will change the contest.
- Squidport means Squidport boardwalk – not the beach. Any characters not on the Squidport boardwalk will not be counted towards your total.
- One screenshot means ONE screenshot. Part of the challenge in early Photo Challenges was fitting everything you needed into one shot. Entries that use Photoshop, photo stitching, or any other photo altering or enhancing software will be disqualified.
- Play smart. Posting hints and tips, that may alert other players to combinations or designs they may not have thought of may backfire on you if you are trying to win.
- Entries are due by Monday, September 16,2013 12:00 midnight CST.

I would work on this but COME ON! Getting the ENTIRE family to the Squidport?! Who do you think I am? It's like asking me to take the Earth out of the Sun's gravitational field! It's impossible!

Just a quick heads up because I know there are probably going to be several people competing for the first time. If you have any "creative interpretations" please give us a justification of your decisions (kind of like what Chrisp530 has done). We will consider all explanations for the additional points - but that doesn't mean all explanations will be a "yes." But we can be swayed with creativity and cake. |
