Welcome! Thanks for joining us here at Tstappedout! - As of late a few people have been asking about whether or not there is a cost to the forum upkeep or if there are premium features on the forum. Like special member access.
No. (Except for the new badge recently implemented by our fantastic P&R Team)
That’s why we have ads!
HOWEVER…
There are a couple of features of the Proboards that can be found that can assist you and your fellow forum members.
At the bottom of each page is the following link –
Which allows you to remove those pesky ads, in a way that doesn’t involve installing an ad blocker and supports the forum in the process. Then you don’t feel guilty looking at this at the top of every page.
Clicking the link will take you to a new page (ProBoards Store), where you can select a number of ad-free forum options.
All the prices shown on the Proboards Store page are in US Dollars, so it would pay to do a quick Google search on the current exchange rate if you live outside the US. There is also a standard exchange rate fee charged by your bank for the transaction.
First off is a monthly subscription, renewable automatically after entering your credit card details.
And secondly is the option for a one-time payment
As at the time of writing this – 50,000 page views lasts about 2-3days unless there is an update on the game. Now depending how generous you’re feeling – or how deep your pockets are, the more you spend, the more you save (monthly subscription only), and the more ad free page views available. You will also be on the receiving end of much hand clapping, cheering and all-important “likes” from your fellow forum members.
If you have chosen a One-time payment, the next step is to select when you’d like to apply the ad-free status. It will give you a drop down menu of two months (monthly blocks) or the option to let the staff decide. (You will need to find send a pm to a moderator to let them know you have made the purchase).
So now that you've chosen the ad free option time to enter your credit card details and billing address. The https:// at the beginning of the website address shows that it is a secure site and will encrypt your information so is safe to send.
Now, if you choose to not give a gift to the forum, you can choose to be ad free for your viewing pleasure only and gift yourself a Proboards+ membership. Simply go to your profile and click on the Gift tab at the top.
You can gift this to yourself, from your profile or you can go to another forum member’s profile *cough*Linz*cough* and gift it to them instead, by clicking on the purchase Proboards+.
As a Proboards+ member, you’ll also be on the receiving end of a badge to wear – see here for help on obtaining more great awards Forum Award Guide
Simply follow the onscreen instructions – monthly subscription or one time payment.
Also on the Gift tab of the profile page is the badge store
Where you can gift a fellow member a small badge to show your appreciation, likewise you can adorn yourself with a multitude of badges and pretend that everyone loves you. Be aware! Collecting badges on the Tstappedout forums is highly addictive.
Feel free to contact one of the moderators here on the forums if you need further assistance

Great guide LinzJust one question, what counts as page views? Is it 1 page view every time I visit the forum? Or 1 page view for every thread I view? So if I went homepage -> FAQs -> this thread Would that be 1 or 3 page views

Thanks - I believe it would be 3. But I think only admin can check the exact page views unless there is something in the coding behind the scenes??

Thank you Linz! Spider Pig - that would be 3 page views. They count a view as each time a page loads, so if you refreshed the page, that would be yet another view.

Because I'm a big nerd, I was fact-checking Linz's fabulous guide, and I found that the link for donating $$ to the forum doesn't work for me exactly right. (And it's the system that I'm having trouble with, not the guide, just to be clear.) Everything works fine until it comes time for me to sign in so I can use the credit card that I have saved to the system to make a donation. Once I do, it takes me to the home page of the forum, and I can't get back to the donation process. I wonder if this has something to do with the fact that I subscribe to ProBoards myself? I tried searching the ProBoards help stuff, but I didn't see anything that explained what was happening, or how to get around it if someone who is a ProBoards subscriber wished to also subscribe to ad-free content on behalf of the whole forum. I wonder if it's because the site is currently ad-free? I just checked and my ad-free options are now different. I'm only allowed to purchase ProBoards+, as you can for another member, for $3.99 p/month or as a one time payment. Yet it's available to purchase for the whole site rather than just one member. Strange...

Linz, I keep meaning to say, it might be worth adding a note to your guide about possible overseas transaction fees. I suppose this sort of thing only happens with certain banks, but I've always been charged an extra £1.50 on top of anything I buy on here. It's a small amount, but every penny counts, right?

It appears to be. It shows Admin in the username, but has my name in the dropdown box for forum name selection. I'll update the OP.

The link doesn't seem to work for me now, I just get redirected to the homepage... why is this so complicated!? Lol. I wonder if it's changed now that the ad-free isn't active?

I can only go by what others tell me now - I have a one month personal subscription. Spiffshine posted a handy-dandy summary with screenshots on the Custom Badge thread about making donations. imfkool, A Bad Example, and everyone else having trouble... I have no idea what is going on with the purchasing page. It is weird, for sure, but will work with a little creative workaround that some other kind souls have figured out. 1) LOG OUT of the forum, then follow the links to purchase Ad Free. 2) When you get to the store page, it may say Admin at the top, but there is a link to log in again: 3) After logging in, you will be taken back to the store page where your username appears: 4) Spend money. Get badge. NOTE: You can purchase two (2) 50,000 Pageviews pages -or- one (1) 100,000 Pageviews for a premium badge. Both are acceptable. Be sure to choose the option to let staff decide when to apply.

You Are welcome The Adds dont bother me but if it helps to run this forum I am all for it. So the way I did it was clicked on that link above the add and it took me right to the page Linz posted I saw no reason to logg out as it included all the info necessary and gave it a go.
