Here is my submission. It is my commentary on minimalism. I have been largely inspired by Kazimir Malevich' Black Square. Sorry, but no plagiarizing A Bad Example's work which was turned away!

Yes I suppose one should review the prior submissions before posting. It is surprising how such inspiration can be found in two minds independently. Given the hour of the morning, I have chosen to let your accusation of plagiarism pass with the assumption that you are cranky upon waking, and the fact that to a less astute eye, the works do appear to have a passing similarity. In respect for the clear genius that A Bad Example's master work shows, I will withdraw my submission. In its place, I submit the following [/URL] I call it the isolation of destruction. While I abhor explaining my work, perhaps some commentary is required given the apparent hesitancy to accept more contempory artistic visions. It shows that while destruction may well have a dramatic impact on those affected, it can only serve to isolate those who have created the destruction itself. On a secondary level, it also shows that destruction's affects can only be limited and that humanity's broader existence, represented by the field of green, will always persevere. Now LSLeong, my dear curator, I challenge you to suggest this is not art. Is not the essence of art only defined by the impact upon the viewer? Have you not been impacted upon the viewing? Does this work not speak to you on some level? Are you not angry, and frustrated, and perhaps even bored? Look past the simplicity of the canvas to the complexity of the statement. I must now return to my studio to complete my next work entitled Fence Among the Houses.

I had more respect for you than that As for all your other questions, the simple answer is You art has not stirred any feelings or longings within the depths of my soul. I am simply meh. not bored, but meh. I am quite disappointed by this as well. I still hunger for your juicy brain and continue to enjoy your loquacious attempts to convince me to display your art, but how can our relationship endure at this rate?

Sony - I would never deny your tremendous artistic talent. What you are able to do with the limited tools allowed by the game is true achievement. You are rightly proud of your work and I am glad you have chosen to share it with us. However, I disavow the notion that only works such as these can be "real" art. At its foundation art is self expression, whether it be the meat dress that Melody is so fond of, the seemingly random drippings of a Jackson Pollock, or the detailed work of the Mona Lisa. Many artists were denied a place at the table during their lives because their work did not meet the expectations of what art needed to be, only to find fame after their deaths and the evolution of artistic mores. History should make us all hesitant to judge what is and is not art. LSLeong, I believe you fail to recognize the importance of the reaction that you had to my work. My heart soared with your claim to be devoid of any real reaction. Do you not see that this is precisely what the artist had intended. The effect was absence, or a void of response. What can be more isolating than absence, and a void is destruction distilled. I had hoped for such a response, but in truth was wary that my audience would not understand. I now see why you are the curator of this magnificent edifice to creativity. What I failed to realize though is that in your core you are a romantic. As such, you could not allow yourself to embrace the emptiness of your reaction. As a romantic myself, I can fully understand such a response, and can hardly fault you for it. As such, allow me to submit my third piece in the series. I believe this to more in tune with you disposition and artistic temperament. I call it Romance in the Abyss. I believe it powerfully demonstrates that even in the face of total loss, love finds its way. If you look closely in the bottom left hand corner you will note the paint to have thinned. This is due to the pooling of my tears during its composition. I thought about painting over it, but felt it had become an integral part of the piece. Enjoy

I am sorry your efforts led to manly tears, but I'm afraid your art still falls short. Your poetic prose however is quite deserving of a David So remember, you didn't win me with your art, but with your words

LSLeong thank you for the generous acceptance of my work. It reminds me of a saying in hockey. They never ask how you scored your goals, they merely ask how many did you score. In this instance, the how is much less important than the fact that I can now look upon the badge rightly displayed under my make believe name. For the joy that this brings, I thank you. Fraggle, I have always known you loved me, but I appreciate you saying it, or at least writing it with the use of an emoticon that could be interpreted as anything from I am currently having a heart attack thanks to the offence offered by your presence to I like you as I would an unfortunately illness stricken sibling. But I think we both know what you really meant.

lyonsek, I am happy to see where your piece ended up. The first one was way too contrived and something you could do better on. The second version I thought was a nice rethinking on the subject and stood strongly, but I always appreciate the clarity we can achieve when step back a moment and are just honest with ourselves and where we are coming from. To open yourself to the romantic nature, making yourself vulnerable as you did, well, it shows. Your spacing is impeccable. If I break your image into quadrants as I know you are implying we should, you have the two in separate quadrants. They are apart, they are unable to touch within the void. They are alone still, but there remains hope. This really is a brilliant move on your part.

100’s of things I need to do in the real world, but I spend the morning making pictures of Stormtroopers instead. I absolutely love this! But for some reason, the shadow looks like hair to me and it makes him look like one of those Predator aliens. But if I tell my brain to ignore the shadow, the stormtrooper looks great. Are you making one of those optical illusions??
