The time was the late 1980s. In the words of the artist Tommy Keene, these are places that are gone. I spent many a night walking down the hallway to this venue, the original 9:30 Club in Washington, DC. Lloyd Cole was my first show there, and many many shows followed. There was a distinctive 9:30 funk from the amalgamation of cigarette smoke and the products used to clean the floors. There was a pole right in front of the stage. But more importantly, there were great bands, great DJs, and cheap drinks. It was also where my husband took me to see Chris Isaak on our first date. The club moved on to much success in a larger venue, and 930 F St. became the home of a J. Crew. That time in my life was a lot of fun. Some friends and I traveled to see shows as far north as Massachusetts and as far south as Atlanta. Now that I am older and wiser (or at least older), I am glad I did it then!

I can't pick just one thing, so here's something I recently came across again that brought me great joy. Every day needs levity.

Nostalgia and an easily attainable badge? Count me in. This was my first car that didn't have a major fluid leak and cost over $1000. Well, it's not the exact car but it's so similar I get misty when I look at it. 1980 BMW 728i, bought in 1993 in Germany. I blew it up on the A3 sometime in late 94. I felt like a king driving that thing around, too bad I didn't have someone check my work after I replaced the head gasket. I had planned to bring it back to the states with me. I've only driven trucks the last 20 years, but if I ever buy a car again, it'll be a BMW.

The very first concert I ever went to was at Great Woods in Mansfield, no idea what it's called now. It was a new arena and this was their first concert too.
First concert I went to with Hubby.
First band I had front row seats for.
Last band I saw in concert with Hubby.
Current state of my life.

Two of my favorite people from the 80's - Pee Wee Herman and Mt. T. I pity the fool who doesn't eat my cereal!

A part of my childhood gaming is rayman. It's a game I remember playing at a young age. Another great game that makes me relive my childhood is the sega Aladdin game.

While it's not my best memory, it showed up in my facebook "on this day" today so it seemed too perfect to not use here. My first time making the paper, and I made the front page.

I miss the books, the art, the arts taken seriously. Sigh.
